John P. Murray
John Paul Murray, 81, of Augusta, died Wednesday, Feb. 25, 1998 at LakePoint Nursing Center.
His service will be held Saturday, Feb. 28 at First Baptist Church. Dr. Robert Box, church pastor, will officiate.
Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 27, at Dunsford Funeral Home on East Fifth Street.
Burial will be at Ava Cemetery at Ava, Mo.
He was a retired analytical technician for Mobil Oil Refinery.
He was born March 27, 1916 in Ava, Mo. to Robert L. and Elizabeth Jane (Spurlock) Murray.
He married Nadine Ila Stafford in Ava on Oct. 9, 1938. She survives.
He was preceded in death by a son, Stanley John in 1962; brothers, William and Virgil; and sister, Grace.
He was a deacon, senior High Sponsor for nine years and held elective offices at First Baptist Church for more than 50 years.
He was also a member of Pegasus Camera Club.
Survivors include brother Chester Murray of Ava, Mo.; several nieces and nephews.
Memorial has been established with First Baptist Church, 1501 State, Augusta.
Dunsford Funeral Home Augusta is in charge of the arrangements.
Nevelyn Rawlings
Nevelyn Richard Rawlings, 80, of Augusta, died Thursday, Feb. 26, 1998 in Augusta.
His graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 28 at Elmwood Cemetery. Rev. Thomas Davis of the First Christian Church will officiate.
Visitation will be held from noon to 8 p.m. today at Dunsford Funeral Home.
He was born Nov. 26, 1917 in Augusta to William and Lula (Snook) Rawlings.
He married Audrey Godfrey on April 18, 1942 in Topeka. She survives.
Mr. Rawlings resided in Augusta his entire life. He graduated from Augusta High School in 1938. He became a member of the Kiwanis in 1959 and was a member of First United Methodist Church. He served in the United States Army during World War II.
He was a retired mechanic and owned and operated 54 Motor Service for 43 years.
He and his partner, Eldon Tar-man started the first coin operated laundry in Augusta. They also had an ice business and mobile home park.
Besides his wife, he is survived by three sons and their families, Richard, Ruth, Ryan and Roger; Gary, Nancy, Barry,
Jessica and Brett; and Terry, Sue, Jason. Misty Tiffany, all of Augusta;two sisters, Vada Mitchell and Viol
Memorial has been established with Augusta Medical Complex, 2101 Dearborn August or Kiwarns Club Augusta.
Ella Kappelmann
Ella Caroline Kappelmann, 93, died Thursday, March 5, 1998 at Augusta Medical Complex.
Her funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, March 9, at Christ Lutheran Church.
Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and from 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
Another service will be held on Tuesday at 10 a.m., St. Matthew Church in Ernestville, Mo.
She was a homemaker.
She was born on Nov. 18, 1904 in Concordia, Mo., to William and Melinda Clara (Dedeke) Lohman.
She married Eliper Kappelmann on July 8, 1923. He preceded her in death.
She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Augusta.
Survivors are son, Cletus of Augusta; daughters, Beatrice Kessner of Clitherall, Minn, Iola Frerking of Grandview, Mo.; sister-in-law, Paula Lohman of Concordia, Mo.; 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.
