Catherine Berndsen

Catherine (Betzen) Berndsen, 87, Augusta, died Wednesday, Aug. 1,2001.
A rosary will be said 7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 5, at St. James Catholic Church in Augusta.
Her funeral mass will be 10 a.m. Monday at St. James Church.
Visitation will be possible from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Dunsford Funeral Home of Augusta.
She was bom April 24, 1914 at St. Marks, KS, as the daughter of Jacob Betzen and Louise Strunk Betzen.
On Aug. 10, 1939, she married Anton F. “Tony” Berndsen . He preceded her in death in 1982.
Mrs. Berndsen leaves sons, David Berndsen and Timothy both of Augusta; daughters, Dianne Conner of Wichita and Debbie Weaver of Augusta; brother, Joe Betzen of Wichita; sisters, Salome Bilderback and Lollie Betzen, both of Wichita, and Lucille Arndt of Wichita Falls, Texas; 20 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.
Memorials to St. James Catholic Church or Hospice Inc. are suggested.
The Dunsford Funeral Home of Augusta is in charge of arrangements.

Barbara Wood

Barbara Wood, 63, El Dorado, homemaker and sister of Alice Neradil of Augusta, died Monday, Aug. 6, 2001.
Her service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug.10, at Hillside Funeral Home in Augusta.
Mrs. Wood is survived by husband, John; brother Raymond Lee, unknown address; sisters, Alice Neradil of Augusta, Ethel Swartzfager of Pensacola, Fla.; two grandchildren; six greatgrandchildren.
A memorial has been established with the American Heart Association.

Veda M. Hock

Veda M. Hock, 82, of Douglass, homemaker, died Saturday, July 28, 2001.
Her service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, August Church in Douglass.
She was preceded in death by husband, Paul E. Hock; brothers, Raymond McLain and Buck McLain; sister, Vera Owen; daughter-in-law, Barbara Hock.
Mrs. Hock is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Judy Hock of Yukon, Okla.; daughter, Jan Stockbauer of Douglass; sister, Ethel Darr of Caldwell; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren.
Hillside Funeral Home of Augusta is in charge of arrangements.



Sabrina Lane

Sabrina Lane, 21, Augusta, died Friday, Aug. 3, 2001.Her funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 7, at the First Assembly Church of God.
Visitation is possible at the Dunsford Funeral Home of Augusta from 4 to 8 p.m. today, Monday, Aug. 6.
She worked as an active aide for the Augusta Regional Medical Center Long Term Care section.
Ms. Lane is survived by her mother Linda Lane of Augusta; brother James Lee Lane of Lyons; sisters Dawnita Westover of Oceanside, Calif., and Crystal Belt of Augusta; grandparents, Jim and Donna Moore of Augusta, and biological mother Tana Anderson of Lyons.
Memorials to Hospice Inc. are suggested.

Emma Seymour
Charlotte Emma Seymour, 92, Herington, died Tuesday,
July 31, 2001 at the Herington Nursing Home.
A memorial service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 4, at the Dunsford Funeral Home of Augusta.
She was born Oct. 25, 1980 in Augusta as a daughter of Arthur Buell and Jessie Kirk Buell.
She graduated from Augusta High School in 1927. She played basketball and was captain of her high school team.
On July 1, 1933, she married August Seymour in Wichita. He preceded her in death.
Mrs. Seymour worked as a florist in Dodge City before her retirement. She was active in Business and Professional Women (BPW) and with the Ford County Mental Health program. She was also a Civil Defense volunteer.
Mrs. Seymour was a member of the Church of Christ and in the 1940s, the Poplar STreet Church of Christ met in her basement.
Survivors include a son Richard Sherman Seymour of Topeka; four grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials to Herington Nursing Home, Herington, KS, 67449 or the libraries of Dodge City or Augusta.

Martha V. Cobb

Martha V. Cobb, 90, of Augusta, homemaker, died Thursday, Jan. 31,2002.
Private family service.
Mrs. Cobb is survived by daughter, Joyce Thevenet of Augusta; sister, Rena Depew of Winfield; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.
