Grace Welter

Former Augusta resident Grace Welter, 77, Colorado City, Texas, died Thursday, March 7, 1996, at the Methodist Hospital, Lubbock, Texas.
Her funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, March 9, at the First United Methodist Church in Colorado City with Rev.
Howard Quiett officiating. Burial will follow in the city cemetery.
Welter was born Feb. 3, 1919 in Minneapolis, Kan., to James Edward and Carrie (Jackson) Young.
She married Wylie E. “Brick” Welter on June 6, 1940 in Augusta. He survives.
She was a homemaker and a member of the First Untied Methodist Church.
Besides her husband, Welter is survived by her daughter, Sue Ann Nichols of Houston, Texas,
son, Don Edward Welter of Seabrook, Texas;
three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews that include Leonard and David Hudson of Augusta.
Kiker-Seale Funeral Home of Colorado City is in charge of arrangements.

Robert O. Pfeiffer

Robert O. Pfeiffer, 61, of rural Augusta, died Wednesday, Oct. 29,1997, at his home.
His graveside service will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, at Leon Cemetery.
Robert O. Pfeiffer was born in Chaves County, N.M., to Charley H and Hilda Pfeiffer.
He was a mechanic.
Survivors are sons, Mike Pfeiffer and Mitch Pfeiffer both of Wichita; daughter, Angie Geist of Douglass;
brothers, Orville Pfeiffer of Wichita and Stanford Pfeiffer of Augusta;
sisters, Ann Frances of Augusta; Ethel Boring of Florida and Mary Fillippi of California and two grandchildren.

Carl Bice

Carl Matthew Bice, 54, Augusta, died Saturday, March 9, 1996, Via Christi R.M.C., St. Francis, Wichita.
His service will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, First Christian Church, Augusta,
Rev. Michael Omundson officiating, followed by a graveside service at 2 p.m. Wednesday,
Elmwood Cemetery, Beloit, with Rev. Mike Clark, officiating.
Bice was born Oct. 21, 1941 in Rawlins, Wyo., to Carl M. and Marie R. (Stude) Bice.
He married Carolyn Maddox on Dec. 22, 1960 in St. John.
He was affiliated with the First Christian Church, retired as a music teacher and wrestling coach, was an insurance agent and currently was a Radio Shack associate.
Besides his mother and wife, he is survived by his son, Greg of Edwards, Calif.; daughters, Karen Chapman of Salina, Marsha Vorse of Wichita; stepfather Wayne A. Phillips; grandmother, Josephine Stude, both of Kinsley; father and mother-in-law John and Lola Maddox of Salina; three grandchildren.
A memorial has been established with the United Way of the Plains.
Dunsford Funeral Home, Augusta, is in charge of arrangements.

Elmer E. Srader

Elmer Earl Srader, 62, of Augusta died Thursday, Oct. 9, 1997.
His funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 14, 1997 at Dunsford Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Amos Williams, Nazarene retired, will officiate. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery.
Elmer Srader was born April 26, 1935, in El dorado to Elmer and Leoita (Twig) Srader.
Survivors is son, Elmer Earl Srader Jr. of Stover. Mo.


G.L. ‘Pat’ Small

George L. “Pat” Small, 84, Augusta, died Saturday, March 9, 1996, at the Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.
His graveside service was today, March 12, at Elmwood Cemetery.
Small was born Aug. 15, 1911 in Cherokee, Okla., to George A. and Edith (Bernard) Small.
He was a technical representative for Teledyne-Continental
Motors. At one time, he also worked as “a fix-it man” at Beech Aircraft in Wichita.
Pat was a man of many hobbies. He loved fishing and the outdoors.
He is survived by his wile, Janice (Corley) of the home; son, Dan Small of El Dorado; daughters, Candy Watkins of El Dorado, Sandy Allen of Hot Springs Village, Ark., Debby Cornwell of Wichita, Shelly Norrick of Augusta; sister, Ruth Kaiser of Los Altos, Calif., 10 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
Small was preceded in death by his parents; brother Bernard Small; and son, George R. Small.
Hillside Funeral Home Augusta is in charge of arrangements.
