H.H. Thompson

Hubert H. Thompson, 89, of Augusta , died Thursday, Nov. 6, 1997, at Columbia Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.
Visitation will be Sunday, Nov. 9, from 1 until 6 p.m. at Dunsford Funeral Home.
His funeral service will begin at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 10, at Dunsford Chapel with Rev. Blake Orr of Prairie Hills Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery.
Hubert H. Thompson was born April 15, 1908, in Jusonia, Ark., to Isaac Thomas and Belle Hood (Sanford) Thompson.
He married Hazel Bollinger Dec. 29, 1929, in Cunningham.
He retired from Lungers Furniture Store before moving to Augusta where he operated several grocery stores.

John Applegate

John Gilbert Applegate, 84, of Augusta, died Wednesday,
Nov. 5, 1997.
His funeral service will begin at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, at First Southern Baptist Church, 2206 Ohio.
John Gilbert Applegate was born Dec. 15, 1912, in Pansy, Mo., to Lorenza D. and Myrtle (Parker) Applegate.
He moved to Augusta with his family when he was 12 years old and attended Augusta schools
He married Helen (Hodson) Miller.
He was an engineer at Mobil Oil Company until his retirement. He was a dependable man who also enjoyed hunting, fishing and working outdoors.
He was an active member of First Southern Baptist Church.
Survivors are wife, Helen Applegate of Augusta; sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Marilyn Applegate of Taipei, Taiwan, and David and Sandy Applegate of Prospect, Ky., daughter Lois Williams of Palos Verdes Estates, Calif.; daughter and son-in-law, Johnette Johnson and Billy Wayne of Idabel, Okla.; sisters, Effie Young of Springfield, Mo., and Leona Patterson of Augusta; 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
A memorial has been established with Community Hospice, 1650 S. Georgetown Ste 160, Wichita, KS. 67218.

Helen L. Bechtold

Helen Louise Bechtold, 66, of Augusta died Sunday, Nov. 2, 1997.
Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. this evening at Dunsford Funeral Home of Augusta.
Her graveside service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 5, at Elmwood Cemetery. Rev. Chuck Terrill of Haverhill Christian Church will officiate.
Helen Louise Larcom was born Jan. 29, 1931. in Augusta to Howard and Goldia (West) Larcom.
She married John W. Tom Bechtold May 29, 1948. He preceded her in death in 1974.
She was a homemaker and lifetime resident of Augusta.
Survivors are son, Tom Bechtold of Andover; daughters Carol
Clemence of Valley Center, Leslie
Machado of Wichita and Cathy Ponder of Bloomington, 111.; broth-
and five grandchildren.
