Lloyd V. Ray

Lloyd V. “Grandpa” Ray, 85, of Augusta, died Thursday, March 12, 1998 in El Dorado.
His funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 14, at the Dunsford Funeral Home chapel here.
Burial will be held Towanda Cemetery, Towanda. Rev. Churck Terrill of Haverhill Christian Church will officiate.
He was born June 13, 1912 in Fairmont Township, Butler County, to Charles A. and Sarah Jane (Mosier) Ray.
He married Viola M. Schupp on Dec. 24, 1937 in El Dorado. She preceded him in death in 1986.
He was a lifetime resident of Butler County and retired from Cities Service after 40 years of employment.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Floyd, Joe, Glen, and Jesse and a sister, Beatrice Oliver.
Survivors include son, Boyd Ray and his wife Sherry of Augusta; daughters, Llola Matthews of Wichita, Elma Webster, Alice Stewart, both of Bartlesville, Okla; brother, John Ray of El Dorado; eight grandchildren, Shirley Matthews, Stephen E. “Chip” and Donna Webster Jr. of Bartlesville, Okla., Lloyd “Tate” and Julie Webster, Kim Webster and David Stewart of Tulsa, Okla., Douglas and Crissy of Houston, Texas, Amy Ray of Kansas City, Mo., Jeff Ray of El Dordao; three step-grandchildren, Shawn, Mindie and Travis Miller.
Memorial has been established with the Kidney Foundation, 2308 E. Central, Wichita, KS 67214.
Dunsford Funeral Home of Augusta is in charge of arrangements.

O. Arthur Dodson

O. Arthur Dodson, 83, of Augusta, died Monday, March 16, 1998 at Augusta Medical Complex.
His service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, March 19, at Hillside Funeral Home Augusta Chapel.
Rev. Tom Davis of First Christian Church will officiate and burial will be held in Elmwood Cemetery.
He was deputy state fire marshal for Kansas.
He was born Oct. 13, 1914 to Charles E. and Bertha Ann (Lusher) Dodson in Enid, Okla.
He married Margarite Brown on Feb. 2, 1967 in Oklahoma. She survives.
Other survivors include stepson Larry Wilkerson of Oxford; step-daughter, Elizabeth
Heinrich of El Dorado; six grandchildren,and 17 greatgrandchildren.
Memorial has been established with Cottonwood Point, Inc., 100 Cottonwood Point Lane, Augusta, KS 67010.

Wesley E. Souder

Wesley Edward “Ed” Souder, 85, of Augusta, died Friday, March 27, 1998.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 31, at the Augusts First Christian Church.
Rev. Thomas Davis and pastor Shawn Strum will officiate. Cremation is planned.
He was born Jan. 16, 1913 in Almartha, Mo. to Edgar E. and Lyda E. (Naugle) Souder.
He married Freda M. Steeds on April 3, 1958 in Miami, Okla. She preceded him in death in 1994.
Fie was also preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, and three brothers.
He was a member of the First Christian Church and a veteran of World War II.
He was owner and operator of Pioneer Chemical Co. .
Survivors include daughters, Connie Thurman of Augusta, Peggy L. Caraway of Dayton, Tenn., sisters, Maude Biedge of St. John, Daphnia Brown of Anaheim, Calif., Doris Gros of Salina; grandchildren, Tiffany Thurman of Wichita, Nathan Thurman of Augusta, Leah Andrew of Dayton, Tenn., and
15 nieces and nephews.
Memorials have been established with the National Kidney Foundation of Kansas, 1900 W. 47th Place, S-310, Westwood, KS 66205 or First Christian Church, 1600 State, Augusta, KS 67010.
