Sherman Scott

Sherman H. P. Scott, 73, of Augusta died Monday, Sept. 27, 1999.
His funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 29, at the Dunsford Funeral Home chapel in Augusta. Rev. Edsel Lovette, of the First Assembly of God Church will officiate and burial will be at Woodland Memorial Park in Sand Springs, Okla.
He was born Oct. 26, 1925 in Neosho County to Sherman Lloyd and Ruby Scott.
He was a retired machinist and a World War II army veteran.
He is survived by son Phillip Scott of Augusta; step-son George Colston of Wichita; step daughter Frances Culver, of Wichita, six grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.

Cindy M. Young

Cindy Marie Young, 40, Lawrence, daughter of Howard and Marjorie Young of Augusta, died Sept. 30, 1999.
Funeral services were held in Lawrence today at 10:30 p.m. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lawrence.
She was born Feb. 19, 1959 in Pawhuska, Okla, to Howard and Marjorie Young. She was a graduate of Andover High School, a member of the American Quarter Horse Association, the National Barrel Race Association and the American Paint Horse Association.
She is survived by fiance, Brent Hill of Lawrence, sons Rodney Miller of Hamilton, and Jerrod Miller of Lawrence, daughter Kayla LeFever of Lawrence, brother Jim Young, of Balko, Okla., and sister Kathy Winn of El Dorado.
Memorials may be sent in her name in care of Warren-McEl-wain Mortuary, 120 W. 13th St., Lawrence, 66044.

‘Leo’ Lipscomb

Thomas “Leo” Lipscomb, 84, of Augusta died Saturday Oct. 2,1999, in Douglass.
His rosary will be at 7:30 p.m. tonight at St. James Catholic Church. The funeral mass service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct 5, 1999, with Father Sam Pinkerton officiating. Burial will be in the Walnut Valley Memorial Park at El Dorado.
He was born Nov. 8, 1914 in Haverhill to Thomas H. and Grace Lipscomb.
He was married to Helen Pike. She survives.
He was a retired farmer, a former Mobil Oil refinery employee, an Army World Ward II veteran, and a member of the Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by his wife Helen, son Gerry of Augusta; daughters, Carol Foxworthy of Derby, Linda Williams of El Dorado, sister Louise Baker of Wichita, six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
A memorial has been established to the St. James Catholic Church building fund.
Hillside Funeral Home Augusta is in charge of arrangements.

Alma M. Houck

Alma M. Houck, 80, of Augusta died Saturday Oct. 2, 1999, at her home.
Visitation will be until 8 p.m. the Dunsford Funeral Home.
Her funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct.5, 1999 at Dunsford Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Ed Gray of the Zion Community Church officiating.Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
This homemaker was born Jan. 13, 1919 in Wann, Okla., to Fred P. Schulze and Louise Luethje Schulze.
She was married on Aug. 30, 1939 to Earl J. Houck, who preceded her in death in 1995.
She is survived by sons Phillip of Towanda, Stuart of El Dorado; daughters, Linda Davis-Haskins of Wichita, and Sheryl Erickson of Augusta; brothers Arthur Schulze of Independence, Milton Schulze of Pawnee, Okla., Hugo Schulze, of Clearfield, Utah; sisters, Della Hinthom of Independence, Mildred Crow of Richland, Wash., Doris Clayton of Fresno, Calif., Alice Schulze of Kansas City, 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Memorials have been established with the Rescue Mission of Wichita and Augusta Caring Community Center.
