James Skelton

James R. Skelton, 94, Augusta, passed away on Sunday, July 3, 2005.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 7, at First Southern Baptist Church in Augusta. Burial services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, July 11, at New Colony Church Cemetery in Linden, Texas.
Viewing will be from 1 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 6, at Headley Funeral Chapel in Augysta.
Mr. Skelton was born in Cass County, Texas on Oct. 24, 1910, the son of the late John James Frank and Lilia Florence (Steger) Skelton.
He was the retired owner of Echometer Service Company and had worked at Haliburton testing oil wells.
On Dec. 25,1935 he married M. Valerie (Stone) in Linden, Texas. She survives.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by: daughter, Carolyn Mikish and her husband, Richard of Augusta; brother, John Harold Skelton, sister, Althara McDuffie, sister-in-law, Charlie Dell (Stone) Whatley, all of Linden, Texas; grandchildren, Melynnie Williams and her husband, Tom of Tulsa, Okla., Cathy Ryan of Andover; four great-grandchildren, Zach Boucher and his wife, Michelle, Chelsea, Caitlyn and Chandler Williams; one great-great-grandson, Dylan Scott Boucher; a host of nieces and nephews.
Memorials may go to First Southern Baptist Church of Augusta, or New Colony Church Cemetery of Linden, Texas.
Arrangements are under the direction of Headley Funeral Chapel of Augusta.

Louis E. Weiss

Louis E. Weiss, 85, Augusta, passed away on Sunday, July 3, 2005.

During his long and productive life, he was a successful owner and operator of a manufacturing company, rancher, developer, and real estate broker affiliated with J.R Weigand. He also was an avid gardener, birdwatcher, and bread baker. He was a former President of Kansans for the Right to Work and a long time member of the Wichita Rotary Club. He was a devoted member of the Augusta Methodist Church, serving for many years on the church finance committee. The accomplishments that gave him the most joy and satisfaction were being a loving husband and the father of seven children. He will be deeply missed by his family and many friends.
He is survived by: his loving wife, Jean, whom he married on July 21, 1967; seven children, Jay (Sharon) of Monroe, La., Lee (Ruby) of Amarillo, Texas, Jon (Darla) of Cottonwood Falls, Steve of Wichita, Laurie (John) of San Antonio, Texas, Cheri (Dave) of Wichita; and Kurt of Lincoln, Neb.; 10 grandchildren; one great-grandson, all of whom brought him great joy.
He was preceded in death by his second son, Lee; his first wife, Marge; brother, William. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for contributions to the Augusta Methodist Church reception to which friends and family are invited.

James Austin Lewis

James Austin Lewis, infant son of Mitchell and Rita Lewis of Douglass, died on Saturday, July 2, 2005.
Graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, July 6, at Richland Cemetery.
Other survivors are grandparents, James and Beverly Lewis of Iola, and Betty Emerson of Jamestown.
Arrangements by Hilyard-Smith Funeral Home of Douglass.
