Wilbur E. “Will” Travis


Wilbur E. "Will" Travis, 76, Douglass, passed away Thursday, Sept.
Funeral service was held today and burial was at Douglass Cemetery.
Wilbur was born in Wichita on July 6, 1933, the son of the late Levi Irvin and Matilda (Schoenfeld) Travis.
He was president/owner of Wichita Structural Steel and served in the U.S. Army/Air National Guard.
Wilbur was an Eagle Scout and leader in Boy Scouts of America and a member of Derby Masonic Lodge.
On Feb 6,1954 he married Bonnie (Ficke). She preceded him in death on July 4, 1993. On Dec. 4, 1998, he married Marcella (Androes) Bartlett. She survives.
He is also survived by: children, Terry Travis and wife Dee of Haysville, Karen Travis of Douglass,
Craig Bartlett and wife Wendy of Goddard, Darren Bartlett and wife Lisa, Brian Bartlett and Eric Bartlett, all of Wichita, Jason Bartlett of Valley Center, and Alison Davis
and husband James of Park City; brothers, Duane and wife Rosalie of Derby and Don and wife Donna of Wichita; sister, Clara Richey of Wichita; grandchildren, Terrence T.J.(Jennifer), Joseph, Stephanie (Jason), Weston, Haley, Marc, Logan, Liley, Julian, Sophie, Andrew, Wesley (Amanda).
Adam and Mariah; greatgrandchildren, Ajay, Annabelle Jacob, Gabriel’ Aliah, and Ian.
He was also preceded in death by brother, Richard, sisters, Virginia Everhart and Jean Byfield.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Journey, A Christian Fellowship, American Lung Association, or Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice.

Charlie McComb

Charlie McComb, 53, San Antonio, formerly of Stafford, Kan., died on Sept. 13, 2009.
Graveside service was held today at Peace Creek Cemetery, rural Stafford.
He is survived by: mother, Cleta McComb of Augusta;
sisters, Nana (Ray) Girard of August; and Marlyn (James; Stallings of Alva, Okla.; six nieces and one nephew.
Charlie was preceded in death by his father, Max and his brother, Sam.
Memorials may be sent to the Stafford Church of Christ or Carpenter Place Children’s Home in Wichita.

Phyllis Stanford

Phyllis Marie Stanford, 83, loving wife, mother and grandmother of Augusta,
passed away Saturday Sept. 19, 2009.
Service will be 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 23, at First Christian Church, Augusta. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery, Augusta.
Phyllis was born on Jan. 16, 1926 in Douglass, Kan., the daughter of the late Granville Lester and Ethel Mae (Rodden) Kennedy. She had worked at Hess Accounting and Load Craft early in life and
was a member of First Christian Church Augusta. Phyllis also enjoyed playing tennis.
On June 25, 1946 she married Robert Stanford at the Methodist Church in Augusta and he survives
She is also survived by: son, Robert Stanford Jr. and wife Kimberly of Plano, Texas.; daughter, Jan Stanford of Augusta;
brother, William Kennedy and wife Mary of Augusta; grandchildren, Matthew Stanford, Steven Bauer and Mendy Curry;
greatgrandchildren, Jordan, Taylor and Morgan Curry-nephews, Michael and Stephan Kennedy.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Kennedy.
Memorials to the Amedisys Hospice or the First Christian Church, Augusta.
