Tim was a 29-year veteran of the Wichita Fire Department and is most noted for the advancements made to the Fire Recruit Training Program under his direction as the Lead Recruit Instructor. Tim loved his job and thought of his fellow Fire _____ Fighters as family. That was proven by all of the support he has received during this battle, and
especially that last few months. He was in the Navy from 1974-1978 but found his true calling when he joined the Fire Department in 1980. He spent 23 years in Operations, and the remaining time in Recruit Training. He always said there was no better job that being a Fire Fighter.
He was born on Dec. 14,1956 to Bonnie Bohannan. He was preceded in death by her, and also his past wife Karen Bohannan.
He is survived by: his wife, Karen Egger; son, Tony Bohannan and wife Melod; step-children, Jared Browning and fiancee Adrienne Walton, Jace Egger and Jaden Egger. Tony’s lifelong childhood friend, Chris Gott has been like a second son to him. He has one grandson, Cody, who brought him much, much joy!
Tim didn’t miss a soccer or baseball game of his, and looked forward to being involved in all of his sports. Tim’s house was filled with love, laughter, kids, and ani- , mals the last few years, and he loved it all! His special companions, his dogs, Hallie, Mickey and
Baby kept him company thru all of his cancer treatments and after. If you came to see Tim, you had better be prepared to play ball with Baby, pet Hallie, and get off the couch so Mick could lay there!
He is also survived by his brother, John Gibson; sister, Judy Miller and husband Dave; his step-siblings, Darlene Fees, Loretta Peper and Jerry Bohannan, and many loving nieces and nephews on he and Karen’s side of the family.
Tim loved to text and email and you could always get ahold of him that way! He loved to stay in touch by Face-book and was known for his email jokes. He was supported by many of his fellow firefighters and friends through this battle. Some special friends who made it easier for him were Bob and Deb Philippi of Kansas City, Del Smith of Wichita, Theresa and Kelly Modlin of Augusta, and Tammy and Tom Brooks of Troy, NY. He fought this battle with the help of his wonderful doctors, Dr. E. Jeanne Kroeker and entire staff, Dr. David Johnson, and Dr. Grant Rhine.
He was prayed for daily by so many friends-there were many prayer warriors in his corner.
He also had a special friend Ms. Mildred Frase, who became his second Mom in Mobile, Ala. He came to love the Gulf Coast and Gulf Shores Alabama felt like Home to him. He and Karen would fly down and take Mildred to the Casinos in Biloxi, and enjoy all the wonderful seafood. They had many, many great times in Alabama, and they had planned to move there after retirement.
In lieu of flowers, we have set up a Scholarship fund and contributions may be sent to the Tim Bohannan Scholarship Fund in care of HCC Endowment -Hutchinson Community College Hutchinson, KS 67501.
Tim was all about learning and hated to think the best Fire Fighter in the world might be out there, but missed his opportunity because he didn’t have the funds available to go to school.
Arrangments handled by Lakeview Funeral Home, Wichita.
