Jennie Mae Howard

Jennie MaeHoward, 90, of Augusta, passed away Sunday, Feb 28,2010 in Wichita.
Visitation 6-8 p.m. Friday and service 10 a.m. Saturday, March 6,2010, all at Headley Funeral Chapel, Augusta. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery, Augusta.
Jennie was born in Meade, Kan. on Jan. 29, 1920; the daughter of the late George and Hannah (Barragree) Pillsbury.
She graduated from St. Mary's School of Nursing in Winfield. She worked as a nurse for Dr's. Anderson and Barber in Augusta for 15 years and later as a charge nurse for the American Red Cross bloodmobile until she retired. Jennie was active and enjoyed golfing, cooking, quilting or sewing, traveling, and visiting with family and
friends. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society in Augusta. On July 10, 1945 Jennie married Raymond C. Howard in Alva, Okla. He preceded her in death on March 30,1976. She was also preceded in death by son, Terry Howard; brothers, Crawford, Homer, Henry "Arky," Walter and Danny Pillsbury; sisters Irene Adams, Gertrude Long, Rosaline "Teed" Slack and Catherine McMillin.
She is survived by: daughters, Sue Bowden and husband Rick of Topeka, and Kristin Goucher and husband Randy of Leon; brothers, Ira "Ike" Pillsbury of Port Neches, Texas, and George Pillsbury of Groves, Texas.; granddaughters, Lia Bovaird (Jim) of Lincoln, Neb., Erica Ryherd (Steve) of Atlanta, Ga., and Hannah and Kaiti Goucher of Leon; great-granddaughters, Charley, Susie, Ellie and Lilli, and great grandson Blake.
