Donald Lee Whittaker

Donald Lee Whittaker, 92, passed away Monday, Oct. 18,2010 at Lake-point of Augusta.
No service.
Donald was born May 22,1918 to Charles Fyfee and Edna Carter Whittaker in Lawrenceville,
111. He graduated from Lawrenceville High School and the Universi-< ty of Wyoming in Geology. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII.
Donald married Rosemary Carter on Nov. 30,1946 in Bridgeport, ILL. To this union they had three children Randall, Rebecca, and Sarah, Throughout his life he worked for independent petroleum companies as a geologist. He also loved to travel and work in his shop doing woodworking.
Survivors include: his; wife, Rosemary Whittaker of almost 64 years; Augusta; two daughters and their husbands, Rebecca and Steve Enzinger of Corpus Christi, Texas and Sarah and David Malzewski of Brookfield, Wis.; sister, Dorotha Fildes of Columbia, Md.; two grandchildren, Samuel and Trevor Malzewski of Brookfield, Wis.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Jack and Charles Whittaker.

Lowell Fry

Lowell Lawrence Fry Sr., 92, died Friday, Oct. 15, 2010, after a brief illness.
Visitation will be held from 9 to 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 23; funeral service will follow at 10 a.m., both at the First Christian Church in Augusta; burial will be at 11 a.m., at Elmwood Cemetery, Augusta.
He was Born Nov. 17, 1917 near Tisdale, Kan. He graduated from Winfield High School in 1933 and went to work in road construction. He married Dorothy Baum on April 28,1941 and began, work at Mobil Refinery. ' Six months later he enlisted in the original '' Navy Seabees as a demolition expert in WWII. He served in the South Pacific at Guadalcanal with the 26th NCB and at Ulithi Atoll with the 603 CBMU as a Gunners Mate 1st class until he was injured. He returned to Augusta where he retired from
a former member of Conestoga Campers, Rosehill Christian Church, First Christian Church of Augusta, and the American Legion.
He is survived by: his wife, Dorothy (Baum) Fry of Medicalodge of Goddard; daughter, Shirley (Robert) Clark of Wichita; son, Lowell Fry Jr. (Cindy) of Wentzville,
Mo.; 7 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by all nine siblings.
Hillside Funeral Home East of Wichita is handling arrangements.

Pamela Knowles
Pamela Knowles, 73, of South Padre Island, Texas, died on Oct. 14, 2010.
Inter ment will be in Sunset \ Cemetery in El Dorado
Memorial service will take place at a later date.
She was born to Harold and Letha Peal in ’ Wichita, on Dec. 6,1936.
The family remained in Augusta her entire childhood. She graduated with an R.N. degree in nursing from St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing in 1957. That was the same hospital she was born in 20 years earlier. She married John R. ‘ Knowles on Nov. 9, 1957. They raised their family in El Dorado. Pamela worked in the local hospital for over 25 years in positions of Staff Nurse, Nursing Supervisor and Education Direc-
versity in 1981 and left El Dorado in 1985. In 1987 - 1989 she worked as Nursing Supervisor in King Abdulaziz University Hospital in Jeddah Saudi Arabia and volunteered in the Philippines and India and traveled many countries.
In 1991 she earned her MSN at University Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas. She worked as a Family Nurse Practitioner in Washington State and Alaska, and taught Nursing at the University of Texas Brownsville. She retired with Mr. Knowles in 2005 and lived in South Padre Island, Texas.
She is survived by: husband, John R. Knowles; her children, David Knowles and Karen Levine; her grandsons, Winston and Briton Knowles and Trey Levine; her niece, Teresa Lin-damood.
Preceding her in death were her daughter, Gwendolyn Knowles; her sister, Jackie Peal-Cobb; and her parents, Harold and Letha Peal.

Gilliland, 85, rancher, rural Leon, died Friday, Oct. 15,2010.
Funeral service was held today Carlson Funeral Home, El Dorado.
