Frances Lawrence
89, AUGUSTA
Mary Frances Lawrence, 89, of Augusta and formerly of ElDorado died at her home April 14, 2012. The Celebration of her life will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 22, 2012, at the Augusta United Methodist Church. Please join the family afterwards for visitation
and a light meal in the Fellowship Hall.
Frances was born Aug. 9,1922 on a farm southeast of Augusta, the daughter of Ira B. and Lula A. Bolinger Kennedy. She attended schools in Augusta and graduated from Augusta High School. She enjoyed her class reunions.
On June 6,1942 she married the love of her life R.A. "Dutch” Lawrence in Augusta. They had lived in Augusta, Wichita, Tulsa, and Prairie Village. She had worked as an antique dealer, a florist at Walters Flower shop, but her true love was family and being a wonderful homemaker. She was very interested in politics and kept up with all the current events. She enjoyed planting a beautiful garden every year.
Surviving family include: daughter, Susan Bartel and husband Harlan of Augusta; one brother, Richard E. Kennedy of Albany, Ga.; grandchildren, Kim (Shawn) Poores of Prairie Village, Michelle Nickolett of Prairie Village, Chris (Chrissy) Bartel of Norwich, and Abby Bartel of Howard;
6 great-grandchildren; many beloved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Dutch; son, Michael; sisters, Betsy Thompson and Dorothy Chambers; granddaughter, Katie; and one infant daughter.
Frances was very interested in many of the Augusta United Methodist Church projects. Her family suggests memorials be given to either Helping Hands or the C A.R.D.S (Caring about R Deployed Service members) project.
Memorials may be sent to the Augusta United Methodist Church or the Kirby-Morris Funeral Home, who is assisting the family with their arrangements.
