Earl Wayne Tatom dies in Wichita
Earl Wayne Tatom, 46, 402 E. Oak, Douglass, died Tuesday at the Veterans Hospital in Wichita.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in the Douglass
cemetery.
He was born Oct. 21, 1938 in Davidson, Okla., to George Raymond and Vera Mae Bell Tatom.
He was a grocery clerk and had served in the U.S. Army for 17 years.
Survivors include brothers, Glen of Douglass, Billy Joe of Louisburg, Mo., Raymond G. of Iowa Park, Texas, George Arthur of Louisville, Texas, Charles H. of The Dalles, Ore., and Gerald Robert of Texas, and sisters, Geraldine White of Dumas, Texas, Polly Hickman of Odessa, Texas, and Cynthia White of Garland, Texas.
Two brothers, Weldon and Eddie Vance, preceded him in death.

‘Fern’ Hottman died Tuesday at 66
Orren “Fern” Hottman, 66, Abilene, father of Michael Hottman of Douglass, died Tuesday at the Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.
His funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Martin Funeral Home in Abilene. Pastor Peter Balaban and Dr. W.W. Alexander will officiate and burial will be in the Abilene (Kan.) cemetery.
A memorial has been established with the Abilene Trinity Lutheran Church, in care of the Martin Funeral Home.
He was born Oct. 14, 1918 in Detroit to Herbert and Edith Wells Hottman.
He graduated from Chapman High School in 1939.
He married Marjorie Palmer Sept. 12, 1943 in Phoenix, Ariz. She survives.
He retired as a manufacturer's engineer with the Combustine Engineering Kansas Manufacturing Facility in Enterprise.
He served with the U.S. Air Force during World War II. He was a member of the Abilene Elks Lodge and Trinity Lutheran Church and the Chapman American Legion.
Other survivors include a daughter, Orrene Alstrom; brothers, Marion J. of Abilene, Melvin of Annandale, Va., Ted of Bremerton, Wash., Elmer of Salem, Ore., Bill of Salina, and Calvin of Corvalis, Ore.; sisters, Annie Cittrich of White Meadow Lake, N.J., Darlene Miller of Lawrence and Berneice Black of Chapman and five grandchildren.

James Evans dies at 81
James H. Evans, 81, Route 3, died Wednesday at the Augusta Medical Complex.
His funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Carlson Funeral Home in El Dorado. Rev. Doyle Mendenhall will officiate and burial will be in Sunset Lawn Cemetery there.
He was born Feb. 1, 1903 in Little River to James H. and Fannie Nixon Evans.
He married Rhoda Lawrence Aug. 6, 1922 in Nickerson. She survives.
He operated the Evans Upholstery Shop in El Dorado 40 years before retiring and moving to Augusta 7 1/2 years ago.
He was a member of the Prairie Hills Southern Baptist Church.
Other survivors include a sons, James of El Dorado; daughters, Lila Cone of Wichita, Luella Simon of Augusta; brother, Chet of Grove, Okla.; 19 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.

James E. Bloom died Wednesday
James E. Bloom, 81, rural Leon, father of Everett Bloom of Douglass, died Wednesday at Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital in El Dorado.
His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Leon Christian Church. Rev. Tony Venturella will officiate and burial in the Leon cemetery.
A memorial has been established with the Fourth Floor Skilled Nursing Facilities at Allen Memorial Hospital.
He was born June 20, 1903 near East Lynn, Mo., to Oscar E. and Hattie Daly Bloom.
He married Naomi Ballinger Feb. 2, 1925 in El Dorado. She preceded him in death Sept. 21, 1983.
Bloom was a retired farmer and stockman. He had lived in the Leon area since 1946. He was a member of the Leon Christian Church.
Other survivors include daughters, Treva Bogart of Burrton, Roberta Hall of Leon, Loretta Britt of Atlanta and Lila Whiteside of El Dorado; sisters, Hattie Bidwell of Wichita, Cora Need of Winfield and Marie Wohlford of Severy; 21 grandchildren; 26 grandchildren and three step greatgrandchildren.
