Gladys Williams dies in hospital
Gladys Mildred Williams, 80, Andover, died Wednesday at the St. Joseph Medical Center in Wichita.
Her funeral service was held this morning at the Douglass United Methodist Church. Burial was in the Latham Cemetery.
Williams, born Dec. 28, 1905, in Cassoday.
She was preceded in death by her father, Walter E. White, her mother, Edith Leona Minard, and her husband, Frank Williams.
She is survived by two sons, Walter of Douglass and Donald of Cambridge; three daughters, Nadine Bodkins of Winfield, Marietta Van Arsdale of Andover, and Betty Barker of Rose Hill; two brothers, Nolan White of Wichita and LeRoy White of El Dorado; two sisters, Vena Mohler of Whitewater and Leona Page of Spring Hill; 20 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
A memorial has been established in her honor with the American Heart Association.
The Hilyard-Smith Mortuary of Douglass was in charge of arrangements.

Wayne E. Butler dies in Wichita
Wayne E. Butler, 60, El Dorado, brother of Richard Butler of Augusta, died this morning at St. Francis Regional Medical Center in Wichita.
His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Carlson Funeral Home in El Dorado. Burial will be in the Sunset Lawns Cemetery.
He was born Feb. 27, 1926 near Eureka to Harold and Hazel Nelson Butler.
He married Doris McAtee Dec. 6, 1951 in El Dorado. She survives.
He worked for Chem-Co Chemicals in El Dorado. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and served in the Navy during World War II.
Other survivors include sons, Victor, Lynn and Tony, all of El Dorado; mother, Hazel Butler of Eureka; brothers, Albeit of Neal, Jack of Waynesville, Mo., Glen of Eureka, Shirley “Cap”; sisters, Dorothy Vinson and Wanda Frakes, both of Eureka, and Dixie Holm of Morrison, Colo., and seven grandchildren.

August A. Metzger dies in Coldwater
August Alva Metzger, 71; Wilmore, brother of George Metzger of Augusta, died Tuesday in a Coldwater hospital.
His funeral will be at 2 p.m. tomorrow at the Hatfield-Prusa Funeral Home in Coldwater. Gib Clark will officiate and burial will be in the Wilmore cemetery.
He was born Feb. 7, 1915 in Coldwater to August and Lizie Tingler Metzger.
He married Helen Booth May 4, 1943 in Pratt. She survives.
Metzger was a farmer and rancher. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Order of the Eastern Star. He served in the Army during World War II.
Other survivors include a son, Chuck of Wilmore; daughters, Nancy Zimmerman of Protection, Mary Jane Spurgeon of Dallas, Texas; brother, Frank of Wichita; sisters, Sophia Redwine of Buffalo, Okla., Emma Parsons of Wichita, and three grandchildren.

Jessie M. Fruits, 76, Winfield, sister of Annabelle Bell of Augusta, died Wednesday at St. Francis Regional Medical Center in Wichita.
Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Grace United Methodist Church in Winfield. Rev. Mike McGuire will officiate and burial will be in Mount Vernon Cemetery of rural Winfield.
She was born July 22, 1909 Coyville to George and Nora Frost Scott.
She married Roy Fruits Oct. 1, 1934 in Perry, Okla. He survives.
She had worked at the Winfield hospital.
Other survivors include son, Dale of Winfield; brothers, Hoyt Scott of Winfield, Clarence Scott of Ponca City, Okla., and another sister, Bessie Ferguson of Wichta.
