Wilbur L. DeMoss burial in Leon
Retired farmer Wilbur L. DeMoss, 71, Augusta, died Sunday, Feb. 25.
His graveside service will be conducted at 2 o’clock Wednesday afternoon, Feb. 28, at the Leon Cemetery. Burial will follow.
Wilbur was born July 30, 1918 at Leon as a son of Jay L. DeMoss and Sara Emma Sawyer DeMoss.
He married the former Florence Schepers Nov. 7, 1948 at Wichita. She survives.
Other survivors include a
brother, Kenneth DeMoss of Latham, two sisters, Dorothy Arnold of Augusta and Maxine Wooldridge of Wichita, six nieces, and one nephew.
DeMoss served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Memorials to the American Lung Association of Kansas, 4300 Drury Lane, P.O. Box 4426, Topeka, Kan., 66604, have been suggested.
The Dunsford Funeral Home of Augusta is in charge of arrangements.
Alta L. Wheatley dies in Oklahoma
Alta Leone Wheatley, 86, Pawnee, Okla., died Saturday, Feb. 24, in Ada, Okla.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, at the Poteet Funeral Chapel in Pawnee, the Rev. Udell Wolff officiating. Internment will be in the Masham Cemetery.
She was born Oct. 20, 1903 in Pawnee to Sophia V. Worden and Warren A. Barnes.
On July 4, 1926, she married William Wheatley in Pawnee. He preceded her in death Sept. 16, 1984.
She lived in Pawnee County most of her life. She was a member of the United Methodist Church and had been a homemaker.
Survivors include a son, Wilbur of Augusta; a daughter, Carol L. Davis of Ada; two sisters, Ora Brandenburg of Dallas, Ga., and Dorothy Moffitt of Ralston, Okla.; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters.

Wayne E. Clem, 73, Augusta, died Tuesday, Feb. 27, at the HCA Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.
His funeral service will be 2 o’clock Friday afternoon, March 2, at the Dunsford Funeral Home chapel. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
He was born Jan. 6, 1917 at Claremore, Okla., as a son of Harland Clem and Edna Allen Clem.
On Dec. 10, 1945, he married the former Dean Beech in a ceremony at Columbus. She survives.
Clem worked as a produce salesman during his life and had been a Butler County resident for 34 years. He served with the Air Force during World War II.
He was a member of the Nazarene Church.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Clem leaves three sons, Jerry and Ronnie Clem, both of Augusta, and Danny Clem of Frankfurt, Germany; four daughters, Pat Cook and Diane Pursley, both of Los Angeles, Calif., Joey Stevens and Debbie Sevenson, both of Kansas City, Kan., and 11 grandchildren.

George Lee Freeman dies at Medicalodge
Retired Santa Fe Railroad employee George Lee Freeman, 79, Douglass, died Monday at the Medicalodge of Douglass.
Services were 2 p.m. today at the Kechi Cemetery in Kechi.
He was born Oct. 23, 1910 to Minnie Bell Duck and Salem Michael Freeman in Madell, Okla.
On Feb. 10, 1951, he married Goldia Viola Medlen (Thorton). She preceded him in death on Nov. 6, 1973 in Augusta.
Freeman first came to Butler County in 1946. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Augusta and the American Legion, having served with the U.S. Army.
Survivors include sisters Johnetta Paulin, Clara Schmidt, both of Wichita, and Nellie Neice of Kechi.
Dunsford Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
