Helen M. Haworth

Helen M. Haworth, 85, Augusta, died Friday, Dec. 29, 1995, Wesley Medical Center, Wichita.
Her service will be 11 a.rh. Wednesday, Jan. 3, at Atlanta Christian Church, Atlanta,
with Dr. Robert Box of the First Baptist Church of Augusta officiating. She will be buried in the Atlanta Cemetery.
Haworth was born Dec. 3, 1910 in Boliver, Mo., to Bemie and Maggie (Ryan) Eidson.
She was the oldest of six children. Her family came to Kansas in a covered wagon in 1920.
They settled near Latham where her father worked for the township.
She attended school in Latham but later gave it up to stay home to care for her younger siblings,
and her ailing mother who later died in 1933.
She married William Haworth on June 30, 1936 in Winfield.
They operated the Latham Cafe from 1960-1966.
He preceded her in death on Feb. 23, 1993. She was also preceded in death by her parents, her son, Gerald in 1990, a brother, Claude Eidson, and a sister, Apal Foster.
Haworth was a homemaker and belonged to the Eastern Star of Latham.
She is survived by her brother, Clyde Eidson of Donna, Texas;
sisters, Mildred Heinzman of Tacoma, Wash., Wilma Butler of San Diego;
grandson, Kevin Haworth of Augusta; granddaughters, Janet Woodard, Connie Shaffer, both of Leon;
eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.
A memorial has been established with the National Kidney Foundation of Kansas and
Western Missouri, 1900 W. 47th PI., Suite 310, Westwood, Kan. .'66205.

Vera F. Deaton

Vera F. Deaton, 81, Augusta, died Thursday, Feb. 29, 1996.
Her funeral service was today, March 4, at the Lakeview Mortuary in Wichita.
She was born Feb. 20, 1915 in Monroe, La., to Chamer Terry and Florence (Bryant) Scaife.
Deaton was an Avon salesperson in Augusta and in sales for Sears & Roebuck in Topeka and
she was a secretary for State Farm Insurance.
She is survived by her sons, Don Deaton of Augusta, Morris Taylor, Sunnyvale, Calif.;
daughters, Dorris Walker, La Junta, Colo., Sharon Won, Orinda, Calif.;
sisters, Martha Haley, Maxine Darden, both of Monroe, La.; brothers Travis Scaife, New Caney, Texas,
Elmore Scaife, Ukiah, Calif.; eight grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

James E. Voran

Former Augusta resident James E. Voran, 74, Woodlands, Texas, died Tuesday, Dec. 5, 1995 at his residence.
His service was held Friday, Dec. 8, at the Woodlands United Methodist Church
with Dr. E Robb and Rev. Blair Lemer officiating.
Voran was born Oct. 22, 1921, the son of Mr. and Mrs. C.D. Voran, in Newton.
His family moved to Augusta, where Voran was raised and graduated from Augusta High School in 1939.
He was a member of the Woodlands United Methodist Church, a U.S. Navy veteran of WW II,
and a retired ground crew chief for Pan American Airlines.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth of the Woodlands; daughters and sons-in-law;
Mary Feece and husband, Bill of Conroe, Texas, and Linda and husband, Rick of Pawling, N.Y.;
son and daughter-in-law, Frank Voran and wife, Judy of Tallahassee, Fla.;
sister, Carolyn Roby of Wichita; granddaughters, Tiffanie DeValve and husband Michael,
Yvonne Feece, and Kimberly Matela; grandsons, Ben and Adam Voran.
Forest Park Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

GRACE DAVIS
Grace Davis
Grace Davis, 89, Augusta, died Sunday, Jan. 7, 1996, at the Walnut Valley nursing home.
Visitation hours will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 10, and from 8 to 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 11. Her funeral service will be 10 a.m. Thursday at the Dunsford Funeral Home Chape with Dr. Robert Box, First Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in the Elmwood Cemetery.
She was bom April 22, 1906 in Arkansas City to William E. and Clara (Gamble) Becker.
She married Frank Davis on June 21, 1924 in Winfield. They lived most of their lives in the Augusta area. He was a Mobil employee while she attended college in Arkansas City, worked at Boeing during the war, and then worked in two beauty shops downtown before finally establishing a shop in her home.
After she retired Mrs. Davis liked to tell people she had been I a beautician for 40 years.
She was very active in the Eastern Star and she was also, for a time, Mother Adviser for the RainbowTiirTs.
Her husband preceded her in death in 1993. She was also preceded in death by her son, Billy Joe, in 1979, a brother and a sister.
She is survived by her daughter, Judith Ann Edwards of Augusta; two grandchildren, Kim'Windsor of Augusta and Sue Farmer of Wichita; three great-grandchildren, Dylan, Stacia, and Tara of Wichita.
A memorial has been established with the Eastern Star of Augusta No. 211 in care of Dunsford’s Funeral Home.

Eugene V. Trotter
Eugene V. “Gene” Trotter, 67, Augusta, died Friday, Jan. 5, 1996, in Wichita.
There will be no visitation and he will have a graveside service with a closed casket ceremony at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 10, Elmwood Cemetery. Rev. Bill Jeffress from First Church of God will officiate.
He was born May 15, 1928 in Augusta to Lester E. and Credia N. (GilHand) Trotter.
Trotter married Mildred M. Salvage on Sept. 8, 1951 in Augusta. She survives.
Trotter was a retired Federal Aviation Administration inspector for Boeing.
Besides his wife, Mildred, he is also leaves a son, Wesley Trotter; daughter, Teena Ross, all of Augusta; brothers, Tom Totter of Seattle, Wash, and Jim Trotter of Augusta; sisters, Della Mae Caputo of Anaheim, Calif., Doris L. Baldwin of Long Beach, Calif., Carolyn Sullivan of Salem, Ore., Patsy Black of Lake Elsinor, Calif.; nine grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
Dunsford Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Deaths
James Sutton II
James Stanley Sutton II, 56, Augusta, died Tuesday, Jan. 30, 1996.
His service will be 1:30 p.m. Friday, Mission Chapel Mausoleum, Wichita.
Sutton was bom Jan. 1, 1940 in Houston, Texas, to James S. and Mary Eileen (Pollard) Sutton. They preceded him in death.
The Garbert-Jones Drilling Co. president and Ralph’s Rig Service vice-president is survived by his wife, Cheryl; sons, James III, of Augusta, Jeffrey of El Dorado, Brian and Casey, both of Wichita; daughter, Amanda Lynn Sutton of Wichita; stepsons, Allen Stowe of Valley Center, Kevin Stowe of Augusta; brother, Jerry of Kona, Hawaii; six grandchildren.
A memorial has been established with the American Diabetes Association.
Byrd-Snodgrass Funeral Home, Wichita, is in charge of arrangements.
Jean Porter
Former Augustan Jean Porter, 73, Hastings, Minn., died today, April 8, 1996.
Cremation is planned and there will be no service.
She was bom here Feb. 8, 1923 as the daughter of Harold and Mattie Guest.
She was married to Wayne Porter who preceded her in death.
She leaves a sister, Jane Fennell of Augusta, two brothers, Bill Guest of Wichita and Jack Guest of Hastings, Minn., as well as nieces and nephews.
