Norman Hess

Norman Wayne Hess, 71, of Rose Hill, died Sunday, Oct. 3, 1999.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 6 at Peace Lutheran Church, 410 Grace, Andover, with Pastor Delmar Brack officiating.
He was born Sept. 9, 1928 in Ponca City, Okla., to Albert and Golda Hess.
He was married to Velda Brack, an Army Veteran and was the owner of Hess Brothers Water Conditioning and Treatment.
Mr. Hess was a former member of the Augusta City Planning Commission and his wife was an Augusta schoolteacher.
He is survived by his wife Velda, son Michael, of Park City daughter Sharon Rizo, of El Dorado and three grandchildren.
A memorial has been established with the Hospice House at Dry Creek, 1118 E. Oakwood Ct., Derby, Kan. 67037.

Clare E. Patterson

Clare E. Patterson, 84, of Augusta died Tuesday, Oct. 5, 1999.
His funeral service will be 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 11, at the Dunsford Funeral Home Chapel in Augusta. Ed Gray of the Zion Community Bible Church will officiate.
Visitation will also be at the Dunsford chapel from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 10. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
He was born Dec. 18, 1914 in Augusta to Albert and Lilly Martha Patterson.
He was married Nov. 20, 1936 to Jessie B. Malcom in Wichita. She survives.
He was a Kansas Tri-State boxing champion from 1932 to 1942, a Kansas State 4-H leader and he was a retired Holstein Dairy Farmer and worked at Boeing and LearJet, and he was a member of Zion Community Church in rural Augusta.
He is survived by his wife, Jessie, sons Clare Jr., Dalton and Allen, all of Augusta, sister Lilly Jackson of Lakewood, Colo, and Lovey Boucher, Augusta, grandchildren, Tony, Cary, Robin, Cory and Todd Patterson, great-grandchildren, Candace, Kyle, Brant, Corney Patterson, Nattile and Brandy Biggert, Breeanna Rizzi, Kacy, A. J. and Ayden Patterson, and one great-great grandchild Skyler Rizzi.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Loy, Ryle, Clive, Lee, Ross, and Fay and sisters Albertha Dagel and Connie Urban.
Memorials may be sent to the Zion Community Church.
