William Knebler funeral at AHS

William M. “Bill” Knebler, 46, Augusta, died Monday, Jan! 22, 1996, in a traffic accident.
His funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. tomorrow, Jan. 25, in Augusta High School with Father James Mainzer officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
A rosary will be held at 7 p m. tonight in St. James Catholic Church.
Knebler was born Aug. 14, 1949 in Wichita to Lawrence A. and Mary Maryls (Alley) Knebler.
He was a truck driver and former Marine and member of the St. James Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by a son, Paul.
On Oct. 8, 1975, he married the former Vickie Thomas. She survives.
Other survivors include his son, Adam: daughters, Mary, Susan, and Amber; step-brother, Rick Bartel;
sister, Jane Heise, all of Augusta; step-sister, Christy Parsons of Andover;
father and step-mother, L.A. and Linda Knebler of Augusta.
Donations to the Bill Knebler Memorial Fund can be left at the Dunsford Funeral Home, P.O. Box 26, Augusta.

Marjorie Wheat

Marjorie Ellen Wheat, 86, Augusta, died Tuesday, Jan. 23,’ 1996 in Wichita.
Her funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 26, in the First United Methodist Church at Cedar Falls, Iowa.
She will be buried in the Garden of Memories, Waterloo, Iowa.
There will be a local memorial service for her at at 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 29, in the
Augusta First United Methodist Church, where she attended church. Rev. Vern Bowers and David Melton
of the Benton Christian Church will officiate.
Wheat was born Jan. 16, 1910 in Dwight, 111. to James R. and Beulah Helen (Bloxam) Wright.
She married William G. Wheat in Caledonia, N.D., on June 12, 1935. He preceded her in death in 1991.
She was also preceded in death by her sister, Gladys Kretsinger and a great-grandchild.
This homemaker is survived by her sons, Harry and David Wheat of Augusta, George Wheat of Bettendorf, Iowa,
Don Wheat of Casselbery, Fla., Marvin Wheat of Eureka and Larry Wheat of Australia:
daughters, Ilahbelle Vorhies of Augusta, Alice Follett of Green River, Wyo., Mary Vandenhull of Cedar Falls,
Vanda Davey of Rockwall, Texas; brothers, James and George Wright, both of Fargo, N.D.,
Richard Wright of Luverne, N.D.; sisters. Melba Motter of Clifford, N.D., Ilah Flaaten of Fertile, Minn.;
40 grandchildren and 44 great-grandchildren.
Dunsford Funeral Home of Augusta is in charge of local arrangements and
Richardson Funeral Home, Cedar Falls is in 1 charge of the Iowa arrangements. -

David B. Smith

Former Augusta resident David Bill Smith, 49, Littleton Colo., died Saturday, Jan. 20,
while awaiting a heart transplant at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Salt Lake City, Utah.
His funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 25, at the Cherry Hills Community Church in Littleton.
Rev. John Patterson will officiate and be assisted by Rev. Dan Hiett and Rev. Clarke Vestal.
After cremation, the family will attend a military burial at Fort Logan Cemetery.
Smith was born Dec. 6, 1946 to Bill and Maxine (Dennett) Smith.
He was a 1965 graduate of Augusta High School.
Smith was a Vietnam army veteran and was wounded in action on Oct. 17, 1966.
In April of 1967, he married Barbara Elaine (Leedom) in Augusta.
He completed Wichita Drafting College and had worked for the Coors Brewery and Stearns-Roger
before joining the Martin-Marietta Corp. as an aerospace. engineer. He recently began to work for American Mail-Well Corp.
Smith is survived by his wife, Barbara; three sons, Matthew and Andrew of the home and
Lance, Grand Junction, Colo., mother, Maxine Smith; brother,’ Michael Smith; sister, Sandra Payton, all of Augusta,
and granddaughter, Jessica.
A memorial has been established with the American Heart Association.
Flowers can be sent to the Drinkwine Mortuary Littleton, Colo.
