Fran Pierpont
Fran Pierpont, 71, former Augusta resident and Calvert’s Clothing Store employee, died at his cabin near Raymond, Colo., Jan. 6,1998.
He was a sales representative in the apparel industry.
He married Susan Wright in 1947 in Tulsa, Okla. She survives.
Other survivors include two sons, Scott Pierpont of West Dover, Vt„ and Kurt Pierpont of Littleton; two daughters, Lucinda Pierpont of Bellingham, Wash., and Melanie Pierpont of Bend, Ore.; brother, Calvert Pierpont of Des Moines, Iowa; sister, Serepta Ostrum of Fair-port, N.Y.; seven grandsons.
Memorial services were held Saturday, Jan. 10 at Stephen’s Episcopal Church, with the Rev. Max Bailey officiating.
Cremation was held at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel and Crematory in Longmont.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Foundation in care of Ahlberg Funeral Chapel, 326 Terry St., Longmont, CO 80501.
Ethel Spillman
Ethel E. Spillman, 74, of Augusta, died Friday, Jan. 16, 1998 at Augusta Medical Complex.
Her funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 20, at Dunsford Funeral Home. Burial will int Elmwood Cemetery.
Rev. Tom Davis of First Christian Church will officiate.
She was a homemaker.
She was born Jan. 31,1923 in Clovis, N.M to Henry F. and Hazel A. (Willis) Pierce.
She married Nathan Spillman on Aug. 5, 1939 in Wichita He preceded her in death in 1984.
Survivors includes sons, Guy of Augusta, Luther of Houston; brother, Ray Pierce of Wichita; sisters, Bemeice Johnston, Daisy
Brown, both of Wichita Ann Rudy of Houston; grand children, Guy Pierce Jr.; Sacramento, Calif., Tina Harley, Tonya and Lori Spillman, all o Houston, Mary Frakes and Pam Norton, both of Wichita; greatgrandchild, Elizabeth Frakes of
Memorial has been established with Wichita Area Girl Scouts
scholarship fund.
Mary Helen Strait
Mary Helen Strait, 89, of Grove, Okla, and formerly of Augusta, died Tuesday Jan. 20, 1998.
Her funeral service will be 1:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 23, at Dunsford Funeral Home with Dr. Robert Box of First Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
She was born Dec. 26, 1908 in Cleo Springs, Okla, to Sidney Francis and Enda Erie (Bren-son) Neihardt.
She married Frank Samuel Strait in Wichita on April 11, 1925. He preceded her in death on Oct. 1, 1985.
She was also preceded in death by sons, Franklin Samuel Strait, Jr. and Alva Wayne Strait.
She was a retired Boeing employee and former employee of Beech.
She was a member of the Rebekkas and a member of First Baptist Church of Augusta.
She is survived by a daughter, Geneva Peterson and son-in-law, Joe of Grove, Okla.; 10 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren; and 22 great-great grandchildren.
Memorial has been established with American Heart Association or Hospice International.
