Philip Lamb

Philip Lamb, 86, former Augusta resident, of Fredonia, died Tuesday, Jan. 27, 1998 at Andover Health Care Center.
His funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 31 at First United Methodist Church in Fredonia, Rev. Sara Dillinger officiating.
Burial will be in the Farming-ton Cemetery with Masonic
Graveside Rites.
Friends may call at the Timmons Funeral Homes, Fredonia, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 30.
He was a retired toolmaker at Boeing and also retired from Certainteed Manufacturing Co. in McPherson.
He was born Oct. 14, 1911 in Benedict, the son of William and Ida L. (O’Brien) Lamb.
On Nov. 23, 1941 he married Jewell C. Smith in Fredonia. She preceded him in death Oct. 25,1994.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church, constellation Lodge No. 95 A.F.&A.M., Royal Arch Chapter No. 22, Independence Council No. 15 of Cryptic Masons, St. Barnard Commandery No. 10 and the Scottish Rite Valley of Wichita 32 degree.
Survivors include sons, James William Lamb of Dallas, Texas, Robert E. Lamb of Benton; daughter, Julie Drews of Wichita; sister, Patricia Couch of Flippin, Ark.
A memorial has been established in his name with the First United Methodist Church of Fredonia.
Timmons Funeral Home in Fredonia is in charge of the arrangements. j_ ^

Sylvia A. Hurd

Sylvia A. Hurd, 87, of Augusta died Thursday Jan. 15,1998.
Her service will be held 1:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 19,1998 at First United Methodist Church. Rev. Vern Bowers will officiate.
Burial will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 20 at Stockton Cemetery.
She was born in Stockton on Feb.
2,1910 to Frank and Della Munn.
She married Thomas Lynn Hurd on Feb. 20,1971 in Kansas City. He survives.
She graduated from Stockton High School in 1927 and attended the Dogue Business University in Wichita.
She worked for the Fuller Land Company and Phillips Petroleum Co. She was a secretary in Research and Development at Boeing. She retired in Feb. 1972, after 27 years of service.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Eastern Star and the American Legion Axillary.
Other survivors are stepson, Tim Hurd of Springdale, Aik.; five step-grand children; six step-grandchildren; two nieces; one nephew; and one great-niece.
Dunsford Funeral Home of Augusta is in charge of the arrangements.

Richard F. Nesler

Richard F. Nesler, 61, of Augusta, died Friday, Jan. 23, 1998.
His funeral service was today at Augusta Hillside Funeral Home and burial was in Elmwood Cemetery.
He was born April 27, 1936 in Gordon.
He married Rosaline (Swartz) June 6, 1981. She survives.
He was a retired crew chief SPG at Raytheon Aircraft.
He was a member of First Southern Baptist Church and a Mason.
Other survivors include mother, Edna Nesler of Augusta; stepsons, Wally Swartz of Las Vegas, Nev., Bobby Swartz of Augusta; daughter, Melinda; stepdaughters, Shirley Belt, Melinda, both of Wichita, Judy Cokeley of Augusta; brothers, Owen of Wichita, Bill, Gerald, Dennis, all of Augusta; sisters, Joyce Fessler of Rose Hill, Darlene Ingram, Shirley Shafer, Kathleen Northcut, all of Wichita; 15 grandchildren; nine greatgrandchildren.
Hillside Funeral Home Augusta was in charge of the arrangements.
Memorial has been established with American Heart Association.
