Gregory S. Ewalt
Gregory Steven Ewalt, 49, of Augusta, died Tuesday, April 21, 1998 at Augusta Medical Complex.
His graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 24, at Elmwood Cemetery. Rev. Kathryn Graver will officiate.
He was born on July 2, 1948 in Wichita to Lawrence and Virginia (Dashner) Ewalt.
He graduated from Augusta High School in 1966 and attended Butler County Community
College.
He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1969 and served in Vietnam and was later stationed in Japan.
He was an electrical engineer and worked as a senior engineer associate for Sperry in San Francisco, Calif. He also managed Lost Isle Resort in Stock-ton, Calif, and was employed by Jack Atwood for J&B Disposable in Benicia, Calif., before returning to Augusta in 1994.
Greg did some remodeling work here when his health permitted and loved to cook for others, even though he couldn't eat, he loved to fix a traditional St. Patrick’s dinner for 12 with cheesecake for dessert and fixed supper for several good friends each week, up until the last few weeks.
Survivors include mother, Virginia; brother, Monty; sister Rhonda Ewalt Zinn, all of Augusta. A memorial has been established with the American Cancer Society.
Hillside Funeral Home Augusta is in charge of the arrangements.

Elsie Leola West, 92, of Augusta died Saturday, April 18, 1998 at Augusta Medical Complex.
Visitation will be held from 1 to 8 p.m. today, April 20, at Dunsford Funeral Home in Augusta.
Funeral services will he held
Tuesday, April 21 at 10:30 a.m. at Kingdom Hall in Augusta. Burial will be in Wichita Park Cemetery in Wichita.
Elsie was a retired artist for Hallmark Greeting Cards and a member of Jehovahs Witness.
She was born on Nov. 12, 1905 to Wilbur and Barbara Howell Cunningham.
She was preceded in death by husband, Marvin and two sons, David and Charles.
She is survived by daughter-in-law, Doris West of Yakomo, Washington, sister, Juanita Rice of Greeley, Col., seven grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.
Dunsford Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
