John M. Bode

John Martin Bode, 82, of Augusta, died Friday, May 22, 1998, at his home.
His funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. tomorrow at Christ Lutheran Church in Augusta.
His burial will be held fit 12:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Douglass Cemetery.
He was an Augusta schools maintenance employee and former Beech Aircraft Corp. employee.
He was born April 16, 1916 in Pukwana, S. D. to Paul J. and marsha L. (Elliott) Bode.
He married Verna Heinrich in Chamberlain, S.D. on June 15, 1947. She survives.
He was preceded in death by brothers Walter and George.
Survivors include wife, Verna; sons, John of El Dorado, James of Rosalia; daughters, Linda Knott of Marysville, Lana Murphy of Wichita, Joyce Gaines of Douglass; sisters, Estella Swanson of Pukwana, S.D., Alma Bode of Chamber-lain, S.D.; 13 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren.
Memorial has been established with Christ Lutheran Church, 1500 Cron, Augusta, KS 67010.
Hillside Funeral Home of Augusta is in charge of the arrangements.

Dorothy Forpahl

Dorothy Corbin Forpahl, 86, of Augusta, died Tuesday, May 26, 1998, at Augusta Medical Complex.
Her funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, May 29, at First Baptist Church in Augusta. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery. Dr. Robert Box will officiate.
She was born July 27, 1911 in rural Augusta to Jim and Fern (Fulton) Corbin.
She married Ed Forpahl on Nov. 5, 1930 in Newkirk, Okla. He preceded her in death on Nov. 2, 1963.
She was also preceded in death by one brother, two grandchildren and a greatgrandchild.
Dorothy was a lifelong resident of Butler County. She was a homemaker for many years. After her husband’s death she worked a s a receptionist at a doctor’s office in Augusta until her retirement. She provided a home and gathering place north of Augusta for her family for 50 years.
Survivors include sons, Gene Forpahl, Richard Forpahl, both of Augusta; daughters, Ruth Ann Tipton of Augusta, Marilyn Clark, Pawhuska, Okla., Barbara Scheer, Tucson, Ariz.; sisters, Genevieve Renschler, Ponca City, Okla., Margaret Morris and Janet Markley, both of Augusta, Harriet Young of Cheyenne, Wyo.; 14 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.
Memorial has been established with the Augusta First Baptist Church, 1501 State.
Hillside Funeral Home of Augusta is in charge of the arrangements.
