Louie Howerter
Louie Lester Howerter, 86, formerly of Augusta, died April 24, 1998 in Parsons.
Visitation hours are from 1-5 p.m. on Sunday, April 26, at Dunsford Funeral Home.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday at Dunsford Chapel.
Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery. Reverend Mark Young of the Parsons First Christian Church will officiate.
He was a retired consignee from Mobil Oil and also worked for a number of years at Boeing Corporation.
He was born on Dec. 7, 1911, in Hebron, Neb. to Edward H. and Julia (Degenhardt) Howerter.
He married Margaret Bechtold on Dec. 26, 1937 in Jules-burg, Colo. She survives.
He was preceded in death by a grandson.
He was a member of the Faith Christian Church in Wichita and was the longest continuous member of the Elks Club in Butler County. He was an avid golfer.
Other survivors include sons, Larry, of Arvada, Colo.; Gene, of Topeka; and Mike, of Parsons; brothers, Harold Howerter, of North Platte, Neb., Dale Howerter, of Chapel, Neb., and Ed Howerter, of Lexington, Neb.; sister Nona Kilgore of San Rafeal Calif.; five grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren.
Memorials may be sent to Community Clinic of Parsons P.O. Box 798, Parsons, KS 67357.
Dunsford Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Minnie Olive Eckert, 101, of Augusta, died Wednesday, April 22, 1998.
Her graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday at Elmwood Cemetery. Chaplin Harold Trivolt will officiate.
She was a retired from Mobil Oil Company where she was employed for 25 years.
She was born on Jan. 7, 1897, the daughter of Joseph and Minnie (Basham) Herndon in Rockfield, Ken.
She married Charles A. Eckert on May 10, 1913 in Wichita. He preceded her in death on July 25, 1938.
Survivors include, son, Halford of Kissimmee, Fla.; daughter, Lotus Sailer of Leon; eight grandchildren, and 15 greatgrandchildren.
Hillside Funeral Home of Augusta is in charge of the arrangements.
