John Wheeler
John David Wheeler, 83, Augusta, died Saturday, June 27, 1998 at the Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.
His funeral will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 1, at the Dunsford Funeral Home of Augusta. Rev. Vern Bowers of First United Methodist Church will officiate and burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
Mr. Wheeler was born Aug. 24, 1914 in Mulvane as the son of Nelson Wheeler and Nola Chitwood Wheeler.
On Feb. 23, 1937, he married Martha Naomi Jones at a ceremony in Douglass. She survives.
Mr. Wheeler was a former co-owner of Wheeler Brothers Construction.
During World War II, he served with the 74th Troop Carrier Squadron of the 434th Troop Carrier Group.
He also leaves a daughter, Nancy Welch of Radford, Va.; two grandchildren, Lara Borne of Harrisburg, Pa., and Janna Welch of Charlottesville, Va., and one great-grandson, Brendan Borne of Harrisburg, Pa.
Memorials to the American Cancer Society.
Lucille Daniel
Marian Lucille Daniel, 89, Augusta, died Friday, June 26, 1998, at the Manor Care Nursing Home in Topeka.
Her funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 30, at the Hillside Funeral Home Augusta. Rev. Vern Bowers will officiate and burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Hillside Funeral Home Augusta, 117 W. Sixth, between 7 and 8 this evening.
She was born on Nov. 15, 1908 in Atwater, ILL., as the daughter of Peter Laritz and Maude Whitley Laritz.
She was married to Harold Robert Daniel.
Mrs. Daniel once work as a Boeing Aircraft sheet metal and production worker.
She leaves her daughters, Barbara Daniel-Hastings of Huntington Beach, California, Jeanette Daniel of Topeka, and three grandchildren, Timothy Robert, Julie Elizabeth, and Gregory William Hastings of Huntington Beach.
Memorial has been established with the First United Methodist Church in Augusta.
Erban Cassity
Former Augusta resident Erban Cassity, died June 21.
His funeral service was held June 24 at Resthaven Mortuary in Wichita and burial was in the Memorial Gardens.
He was born Oct. 19, 1913 in Mano, Mo., as the son of Russell and Amanda Cassity.
He was a retired employee of Cudahy Meat Packing Co.
Mr. Cassity leaves his wife, Marge, two daughters, Donna Strange of Lawrence and Sharon Borg of Beaumont, Texas; stepsons, Dan Pierce of Charlotte, N.C., and Larry Reischman of San Diego, Calif; a brother, Brice Cassity of Exeter, Mo.; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchil-
