L.R. Settegren
Lawrence R. Settergren, 84 Augusta, died Saturday* July 25 1998, at the Augusta Medical Complex, Long Term Care.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 28, at the First Baptist Church of Augusta with burial in Elmwood Cemetery.
Visitation will be until 8 p.m. tonight at the Dunsford Funeral Home.
Settergren was born on Jan. 6, 1914, jn rural Towanda as the son of Arthur Lee and Mary (NelsonJ Settergren.
On Aug. 20, 1941, he married Alvena Criser in a ceremony at Viola. She preceeded him in death. He and Beatrice White were united in marriage on Feb. 14, 1987. She survives.
Settergren graduated from Towanda High School. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in Company C of the 10th Mountain Medical Battallion of the U.S. Army. He worked for the Mobil Oil Refinery for 35 years.
Settergren was a member of the First Baptist Church. He was a member of the Service Class.
In addition to his wife, Bea, he is survived by two daughters, Carol Settergren of Raytown, Mo., and Kathy and Bill Cain of Orlando, Fla., and their daughters, Deanna and Kristin. Other relatives include Virginia and Ed Bender, Flagstaff, Ariz., John and Barbara White, Augusta, Joan and Bruce Martin, Laramie, Wyo., and their families.
Memorials to the First Baptist Church Building Fund of Augusta or Community Hospice of Kansas, 1650 S. Georgetown, Ste. 160, Wichita, KS, 67218, have been suggested.
Dunsford Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Roy L. Guy
Roy L. Guy of Augusta died Thursday, July 30, 1998. He was 78.
His graveside service will be at 9:30 a.m. tomorrow, Aug. 1, at Elmwood Cemetery. Pastor Robert Sweet of Grace Lutheran Church in El Dorado will officiate.
He was born Jan. 6, 1920 in Leon, as the son of Fred Guy and Maude Springer Guy.
On Aug. 5, 1949, he married Shirley Ann Graham in Joplin, Mo. She survives.
Guy, a retired Boeing Wichita modification employee, also leaves two sons, Dennis of Augusta, and Richard of Hutchinson; a daughter, Darnel-la Calvin, of Spokane, Wash.; a sister, Lila Guy, of Junction City; five grandchildren, and one step-grandchild.
A memorial has been established with Hospice Inc., PO Box 3267, Wichita, KS 67201-3267.
