Sharrie D. Michel
Sharrie Dee (Miller) Michel, 56, of Aurora, Colo., formerly of Augusta, died Sunday, Sept. 20, 1998 in Denver, Colo.
A memorial service was held Thursday, Sept. 24, 1998.
She was born Sept. 14, 1942 in Augusta to N.W. and Mary Miller.
She graduated from Augusta High School in 1960.
She married Woodrow J. Michel Oct. 20, 1972, in Las Vegas, Nev.
She was a keypunch, a computer operator and homemaker. She was an America OnLine member known as “SUPER-MOM54” who helped assist cancer victims.
Survivors include: husband Woody; daughters Dana Hysell and Jill Baldwin, both of Wichita; sons Thomas John Michel and Scott N. Michel, both of Aurora, Colo; and six grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Memorial contributions may be made in her name to: Augusta United Methodist Church Youth Department, 2420 N. Ohio St., Augusta, KS. 67010; The Butler County Association to Counter Child Abuse/ Safe House, c/o Chief David Pate, 111 E. 6th St., Augusta, KS. 67010; the University Hospital Floor 8E, 4200 E. Ninth Ave., Denver, CO 80262. Services were arranged by Aurora-Chase Mortuary and Crematory.
Dorothy Henman
Dorothy R. Henman, 85, of El Dorado, former Augusta resident, died Monday, Sept. 28, 1998 at Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital.
Her funeral service will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 1, at Carlson Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Walnut Valley Memorial Park.
Dorothy was born Aug. 5, 1913, to Robert Henry and Zenobia Earl McBee.
She earned her GED in 1955, and endowed a nursing scholarship at Butler County Community College.
Dorothy married Perry W. Henman in 1929. They lived in Augusta until 1953. The reitred on a farm near Boswell, Ark., and then moved to El Dorado in 1981.
Dorothy was involved with the Life Enrichment Porgram at BCCC; the El Dorado Senior Center; The Butler County Historical Society; and the Sunshine Club. She was a member of the El Dorado Church of Christ.
She worked at Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital as a licensed practical nurse in the mid-1950’s. She volunteered at the Hospital Auxilary and the American Red Cross until her illness.
Survivors include: sons Irvin of Leon, Ivan of Plainwell, Mich.; daughter Iris Lawrence of El Dorado; 19 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild:
She was preceded in death by husband Perry, son Perry Allen, three brothers and two sisters.
In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established with Bradford Memorial Library Talking Books and the BCCC Endowment Association for the Perry W. and Dorothy R. Henman Nursing Scholarship.
Services were arranged by Carlson Funeral Home.
James L. Wilson
James L. Wilson, 67, of Augusta, retired Cessna Aircraft machinist, died Friday, Oct. 2, 1998, at Columbia Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.
His funeral service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 6, at the Hillside Funeral Home of Augusta. Graveside service is 3 p.m. at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Elk City.
He was born March 19, 1931, in Elk City to Every Clay and Edna (Bertenshaw) Wilson.
He was married to Lois Holloway Aug. 5, 1956, in Independence.
He belonged to the Scottish Rite Lodge in Wichita and the Carson Lodge in Elk City. He served in the Korean War.
Survivors include: wife, Lois; daughters Nancy Hopper and Julie Stuckey, both of Augusta; brother Gerald Lee of Independence; and six grandchildren.
Memorial may be made to the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Bartlesville, Okla.
Services arranged by Hillside Funeral Home Augusta.

Evelyn Arlene Moore. 71, Albert’s and Chateaubriand Restaurant employee, died Sunday, Oct. 4,1998.
Rosary 7 p.m. Tuesday, Hillside Funeral Home of Augusta; service 1 p.m. Wednesday, Calvary Cemetery, Augusta.
Survivors include, sons, Stephen of Wichita, Gary Moore of Augusta; step-daughter Carol Ferris of Omaha; two
step-grand-children; and one step-great-grandchild.
Memorial has been established with Hospice Inc.
