ELSIE SPRAGUE aka ‘Miss Muzzie’

Elsie Marshall Sprague

Elsie Marshall “Miss Muzzie” Sprague, 95, passed away Saturday, March 27, 1999 at the home of her daughter and son-in-law in Augusta.
A memorial service will be held Monday, April 5, 1999 at 4 p.m. at Dunsford Funeral Home. Her final resting place will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in New York City.
She was born in Bootle, England, and grew up in New York City.
In 1930, she married Enoch Sprague and moved to Woodbury, Conn., where they lived until 1958 when they moved to Palm Beach, Fla. In 1961, they built Old Slip Marina in Riviera Beach, Fla. and operated it together until 1974 when they retired.
She became an accomplished portrait and landscape artist. Her husband died in 1994. In 1996, she moved to Augusta to live
with her daughter, Marsha and son-in-law Bill Hulvey. Her kind heart and sweet smile blessed all those whose lives she touched and inspired. The Tea Room on State Street bears her name.
She is survived by: two children, John H. Sprague of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.., and Marsha Hulvey of Augusta; five grandchildren and one greatgrandchild.

Charles L. Bankston

Charles L. Bankston, 73, of Fort Mill, S.C., formerly of Wichita, died Sunday, March 28, 1999.
A service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, April 3, 1999 at Tega Cay Baptist Church, Tega Cay, S.C., and officiated by Pastor Jesse Wilson.
He was born on Jan. 25, 1926 in Augusta.
He served in the Army Infantry in World War II. He moved to Fort Hill, S.C. in 1984 where he made his living as an electrical contractor.
He is survived by: his wife of 43 years, Susan; sons, Michael of Wichita, Mark of New York, N.Y. and Troy of Charlotte, N.C.; a brother, Jack of Augusta; and four grandchildren.
Memorials have been established with Tega Cay Baptist Church, 1875 Gold Hill Road, Tega, S.C. 29715 and Hospice, 325 S. Oakland Ave., Rock Hill, S.C. 29733.


Judy L. Sigars

Judy Louise Sigars, 49, of Liberal, died Friday, April 9, 1999 at the Augusta home of her parents.
Visitation will be until 8 p.m. this evening at Dunsford Funeral Home of Augusta.
Her funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 13, 1999 at Christ Lutheran Church. Rev. John Einem will officiate and burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
Judy was born July 13, 1949 in Wichita. She was the daughter of Dr. Glenn Colvin and Wilma Blackshur Colvin.
She attended Augusta schools and graduated from Augusta High School in 1967. She also attended Butler County Community College.
On Sept. 14, 1974 in Augusta she married Glenn Sigars.
Mrs. Sigars worked as a service representative for Southwestern Bell for 14 years. Later, after moving to Liberal, she worked at Unified School District 480 as a teachers aide. She was a member of the Lutheran church.
She is survived by: her parents, Dr. Glenn and Wilma Colvin of Augusta; husband, Glenn Sigars; daughter, Andrea, of the home; sons, Nathan and Danny, of the home; brothers, Bill Colvin of Overland Park and Bob Colvin of Denver, Colo.
