Joseph Graham
Joseph L. “Joe” Graham, 73, Augusta, died Saturday, March 11, 2000 at the Via Christi St. Francis Medical Center in Wichita.
His memorial service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 15, at the First United Methodist Church, 2420 N. Ohio. Rev. Vern Bowers will officiate the the service. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
Graham was a former Mobil Oil refinery employee and retired manager of the Methodist Camp Horizon near Arkansas City.
He was born Aug. 26, 1926 in Oilton, Okla., as the son of Burrell Graham and Altha Mildred McVay Graham.
On June 25, 1949, he and the former Dorothy Lenz were married in Augusta. She survives.
Following the retirement of him and his wife from the Camp Horizon facility, Graham served his local church in many ways. He was chair of the board of trustees and a past president of the Augusta United Methodist Men.
He was a man of faith interested in his family, church, and community. Over the past few years, Graham was an occasional contributor of short stories and letters to The Gazette expressing his thoughts on public situations, sometimes with humor, or just saluting folks for being honest and caring citizens.
Mr. Graham was a veteran of World War II and held membership in the Augusta First United Methodist Church.
In addition to his wife, he leaves daughters, Teresa Bressler of Happy, Texas, Peggy Schmidt and son-in-law Nick Schmidt of Newton; brother, Donald Graham of Beatrice, Neb.; sisters, Rhea Graham of Hutchinson and Nola Blinn of Topeka; nine grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
Memorials to the United Methodist Horizon Center endowment fund at Arkansas City and the Augusta Methodist Church have been suggested.
The Dunsford Funeral Home of August has charge of arrangements.

Mary Stock, 74, Augustan, died Monday, April 24, 2000.
Her funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 28, at Hillside Funeral Home Augusta.
This retired Boeing production worker leaves her husband, Milo, and son Mike Stock, both of Augusta; brother, Don Ward of Lima, Ohio; sisters, Penny Stevens of Dayton, Ohio, Jessie Campbell of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Angee Decker of Sebring, Fla.; one grandchild, and one great-great grandchild.
Memorials to the American Cancer Society have been suggested.
Barbara Jergensen
Former Augusta High School French teacher Barbara Marie (Murphy) Jergensen, 59, Broken Arrow, Okla., died Thursday, May 25, 2000.
A memorial service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 31, at the First Presbyterian Church in Broken Arrow.
She leaves her husband, Gary; children Christy Fisher of Norman, Okla, Cathy Jergensen of Augusta, and Scott Jergensen of Lawton, Okla.; two sisters, and six grandchildren.
Memorials to the Cystic
Fibrosis Foundation in Tulsa, Okla., have been suggested.
Paul A. Presley
Paul Andy Presley, 43, Augusta, died Tuesday, April 11,2000.
There will be no local service.
This construction concrete finisher is surived by daughters, Jennifer Leer, Tiffany Presley, and Cassie Presley, all of Peoria, Ill.; sisters, Susan Mag-nussen, Cindy Ott, and Michelle Chom, all of Augusta; brothers, William Presley of Douglass, Scott and Glen Presley, both of Peoria, Ill.
The Dunsford Funeral Home of Augusta is in charge of arrangements.

Charles A. Lewis Sr., 64, Augusta, died Sunday, April 9, 2000.
His funeral service was today, April 13, in the Hillside Funeral Home Augusta chapel.
He was a Santa Fe Lake patrol-man/caretaker.
Mr. Lewis leaves his wife, Wilma; son, Charles A. Lewis Jr. of Augusta; daughter, Jean LaAnne Whitted of Atlanta; brothers, Daniel J. Lewis of Scottsdale, Ga., Kenneth Lewis of Augusta, and Terry Lewis of Wichita; sister, Kathleen Jack-son of Valley Center, three grandchildren and one greatgrandchild.
Memorials to Lakecrest Bible Bapitst Church have been suggested.
