Bert Wimberly
Bert R. Wimberly, 81, retired self-employed welder and mechanic of Leon and husband of Wanda (Pierce) formerly of Augusta, died Monday, Feb. 19, 2001.
His services will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 24 at Leon Christian Church. Interment will follow the service in Leon Cemetery.
Mr. Wimberly is survived by his wife, Wanda of the home; daughter, Arlene Taylor of Hallsville, Texas; brother, Mike of Bums; sisters, Dolly Clark of Wichita,Georgia Kennedy and Donna Furr, both of Leon; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.
Memorials in Mr. Wimberly’s memory have been established with American Heart Association -or the American Diabetes Association. Carlson Funeral Home in El Dorado is in charge of arrangements.
Ferne L. Allen
Feme Laveta Allen, 77, Augusta, retired nurse aide, died Monday March 5, 2001.
A graveside service will be held for her at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 9, at Elmwood Cemetery in Augusta.
Ms. Allen is survived by a cousin, Eva Grayson of Chanute.
Mildred F. Roche
Former Douglass resident Mildred Frances Roche, 86, died Feb. 9, 2001 in Barrington, ILL.
She was the daughter of the late Sam and Molly Asmussen of rural Douglass.
Mrs. Roche leaves two daughters, Penny Horne of Barrington Hills, ILL and Rhea Thomas of Huntley, ILL., a sister, Rhea Ciesler of Kansas City, Mo., as well as several grandchildren, nieces and nephews including Michael Clay of Douglass.
Cindy R. Best
Former Augusta resident Cindy Renee Best, 37, Mount Hope, died Sunday, Feb. 25, 2001.
Her funeral service was today, March 1, at the Belle Plaine United Methodist Church.
This registered nurse leaves her parents, grandmother, a brother, a sister, five sons, and three daughters.
The Hatfield-Smith Mortuary at Belle Plaine was in charge of arrangements.
Gladys M. Adams
Gladys M. (Moran) Adams, 87, homemaker, and grandmother of Connie Fleming and Melvin Moran, both of Augusta, died Tuesday, March 6, 2001.
Her service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, March 9, at Cochran Mortuary in Wichita.
Ms. Adams is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Joel and Grace Moran of Wichita; grandchildren, Connie Fleming, Melvin Moran, both of Augusta, Linda Dezarn of Wichita, Joey Moran of Green Mountain, Iowa; eight great-grandchildren; four great-great-grand-children.
Milo K. Miller
Milo K. Miller, 88, retired S.W. Body Trailer Co. plant manager and former Loadcraft Trailer Co. vice president, of Augusta, died Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2001.
A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Friday, March 2, at Elmwood Cemetery.
Mr. Miller is survived by sons and daughter-in-laws, Arlin and Jo Miller of Denton, Texas, Lee and Judy Miller of Augusta; daughter, Rochelle Bieghler of Wichita; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.
Mr. Miller was preceded in death by his wife Elda on Jan. 23, 2001; sister, Cleta Chisman; grandsons, Wade and Cris Miller.
Memorial has been made to the American Heart Association.
Hillside Funeral Home in Augusta is in charge of arrangements.
Jackie Maycock
Jackie Allen Maycock, 56, of Augusta, Kansas Turnpike maintenance employee, died Monday, June 18, 2001.
Visitation with family will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 22; service 10 a.m. Saturday, June 23, both at Dunsford Funeral Home.
Mr. Maycock is survived by sons, Jack, Mark both of Augusta; daughter, Lela Maycock of Augusta; brothers, Junior, Donald both of Waverly , Mo., Larry Maycock of St. Louis, Mo.; sisters, Bernice Shier of Hig-gonville, Mo., Elaine Murray of Lexington, Mo.
