Ex-Augustan Dies At 67
Arthur Clayton Thompson, 67, Salina, died March 7 at the St. Joseph Medical Center in Wichita.
His service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Dunsford Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Elmwood Cemetery.
He was born June 12, 1915 in Drumwright, Okla., to Thomas Blaine “Jack” and Ida Bell Aldridge Thompson.
He married Louis M. Plymate June 30, 1937 in Florence. She preceded him in death in 1978.
He was raised in Augusta, served in the military during World War II. He retired from the sales department at Mobil Oil Refinery and was working with Riffe Petroleum Co., in Tulsa, Okla.
Survivors include a son, Thomas A. Thompson of Salina; a daughter, Sherry Anne Smith of San Diego, Calif.; his father, Jack Thompson of San Diego, Calif.; a brother, James W. Thompson of Augusta; sisters, Dorothy Smitherman, LaJolla, Calif., Elsie Lehr of Augusta and Margaret Neeley of Andover; three grandchildren; an uncle and three aunts including Mabel Hedrick and Nellie Thompson, both of Augusta.

C.E. Erickson Dies At 54
Charles Ernest Erickson, 54, Route 3, died Thursday at the St. Joseph Medical Center in Wichita.
His service will be at 2:30 p.m. tomorrow at the Wesleyan Church. Rev. Max Munson will officiate and burial will be in the Elmwood Cemetery.
He was born Nov. 8, 1928 in Scandia to Ernest and Helen Rickel Erickson.
He married Bonnie Beth Guffin March 14, 1953 in Wichita. She survives.
He was a Cessna Aircraft Co., employee. He served in the military during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Sun Flower Lodge.
Other survivors include sons, Larry Erickson of Augusta, Scott Erickson and Todd Erickson, both of the home; two brothers, John Erickson of Alexandria, Va., and Joe Erickson of Thermoplis, Wyo., and two sisters, Kathryn Wynandts of Scandia an Carolyn Eck of Wichita.

Marshall Vorhies Service March 8
Funeral services for retired Air Force Lt. Col. Marshall E. Vorhies, the son of Eva Vorhies of Augusta, were at 1 p.m. March 8 at the White-Mullen Mortuary in Ferguson, Mo.
Vorhies was a decorated fighter pilot during the Vietnam War and an elementary school teacher in Creve Coeur, Mo.
After school March 4, he suffered a fatal heart attack. This was his first year at Bellerive School. He had taught for two years at the Jana Elementary School in Hazelwood, Mo.
Serving in the military during the Vietnam War, Col. Vories flew a total of 950 hours including 450 combat missions. He received the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Bronze Star, the Air Medal with 15 Oak Leaf CLusters and the Cross of Gallantry with the Silver Star. His unit was also nominated for the outstanding Unit Award and the Presidential Unit Citation.
He retired from the Air Force after 20 years of active duty in 1973.
Following a military funeral service, interment was in the Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery near St. Louis, Mo.
Memorials may be made to the Marshall E. Vorhies Memorial Fund in care of the Bellerive School, 666 Rue de Fleur, Creve Coeur, Mo., 63141.
Others survivors include his wife, Donna Vorhies of
Ferguson, Mo.; two sons, Gary Vorhies of Montreal, Canada, and Neil Vorhies of Cape Canaveral, Fla., two daughters, Carolyn Vorhies of Lubbock, Texas, and Jill Vorhies of Waco, Texas, and three brothers, Burlin and Maurice Vorhies, both of Augusta, and William Vorhies of Keokuk, Iowa.
