Raymond Essex

Raymond Essex, 83, retired rural mail carrier and barber from Douglass, died Tuesday, March 13, 2001 at the VA Hospital in Wichita.
His service will be at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 16 at the Douglass Cemetery. Military graveside honors will be conducted by the United States Army, Fort Riley.
Mr. Essex is survived by his wife, Colleen; daughter, Rayma Lee Essex of Goddard; brother, Robert of Loveland, Colo.; sister, Marjorie Jacobs of Jetmore.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Maxine in 1980.
Hilyard Smith Funeral Home in Douglass is in charge of arrangements.

Marilyn McBride

Marilyn Joyce McBride, 66, beautician and cosmetologist of Douglass, died Thursday, March 15, 2001.
Her service was today, Monday, March 19, at First Baptist Church in Douglass.
Mrs. McBride is survived by her husband, Richard; son, Raymond Merritt Clay of Wichita; stepson, Gary Neil McBride of Urbana, Mo.; stepdaughters, Kelly Bowyer of Leavenworth, Janice Soden of Mulvane; brothers, Byron Baum of Leon, Albert Baum of Cedarvale; sister, Patricia Henderson of Blanchard, Okla.; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one great-great- grandchild.
A memorial has been established with First Baptist Church in Douglass.

Dwight Londagin

Dwight W. Londagin, 79, of Tonkawa, Okla., formerly of Wichita, retired Beech Aircraft Corp. employee and brother of Thelma Havice of Augusta, died Monday, March 12, 2001.
His service is at 2 p.m. today, at Trout Funeral home in Ponca City, Okla.
Mr. Londagin is survived by his wife, Alta; sons, Michael of Sedgwick, Ed of Oklahoma City, Randy of Alma, Ark.; daughters, Lela Spangler of Southard, Okla., Babby Rartdol of Tulsa, Diana Morain of Ponca City; brothers, Dwane of Ponca, City, Delbert of Haskell, Okla.; sister, Thelma Havice of Augusta; 14 grandchildren: 24 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.
A memorial has been established with Hospice of Ponca City.

‘Louise’ Pilcher

Anna “Louise” Pilcher, 78, former Concordia Schools teacher, of Augusta, died Saturday, March 17, 2001.
Her service will be held at 10:30 Tuesday, March 20, at Elmwood Cemetery in Augusta.
Mrs. Pilcher is survived by her husband, John Sr.; sons, Michael of Seaford, Del., John Jr. of Augusta; daughter, Linda Pilcher-French of Augusta; four grandchildren; two step-grand-children.
A memorial has been established with Victory in the Valley do First United Methodist Church.
Dunsford Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

John A. Elgin

John A. Elgin, 67, Augusta, maintenance employee for area hospitals, died Monday, May 28,2001.
His graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 31, at Elmwood Cemetery.
Mr. Elgin was born July 28, 1933 to the late Essley J. Elgin and Carrie M. Johnstone.
He is survived by sister, Pearl Dexter of Augusta; nephews, Ken Church of Beaumont, Texas, Bob Church of Augusta; niece, Linda Kay Calvin of Augusta.
A memorial has been established with the American Cancer Society. Dunsford Funeral Home of Augusta is in charge of arrangements.

Milton Bernhardt

Milton A. Bernhardt, 86, Carrollton, Texas, father of Richard Bernhardt of Augusta, died Thursday, March 15, 2001.
A memorial service was held Saturday, March 17, at the Sparkman-Dickey Funeral Home. A visitation preceded the service.
He married his wife Margaret in June of 1941 in New York. She preceded him in death April 26, 1983.
He is also survived by two daughters; Patricia Burke of Carrollton, Texas, Margaret Dwyer of Dayton, Ohio; son, Robert Bernhardt of Carrollton, and seven grandsons.
Memorials may be made in his name to Brookhaven Nursing Center or to Odyssey Health Care, Inc.. 3-i<Ytoo/
