‘Shorty’ McClure
Albert F. “Shorty” McClure, 78, retired farmer of Augusta, died Tuesday, May 22, 2001.
A rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. tonight, May 23, and his funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 24, both at St. James Catholic Church in Augusta.
Mr. McClure was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Simon McClure and son,' Alan McClure.
Mr. McClure is survived by sons, Craig McClure of Douglass, John of Augusta; daughters, Nancy McEwen, and Mary Taylor, both of Augusta; daughter-in-law, Marilyn McClure of Augusta; 14 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren.
A memorial in lieu of flowers has been established with St. James Catholic Church in Augusta.
Dunsford Funeral Home of Augusta is in charge of arrangements.
Thelma Houston
Thelma Lois Houston, 69, Augusta, retired waitress, died Saturday, June 2, 2001.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, June 6, at Hillside Funeral Home in Augusta.
Mrs. Houston is survived by son, Ronnie of Topeka; daughters, Judy Carlisle of Augusta, Debra Houston of Topeka, Jodie Houston, Tina Houston both of Wichita; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.
A memorial has been established with Children’s Miracle Network.
Nellie J. Kiser
Nellie J. Kiser, 87, Augusta, died Saturday, June 2, 2001.
Her funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 5, 2001 at the Dunsford Funeral Home of Augusta.
Visitation is possible at the local funeral home from 4 until 8 p.m. today, June 4.
Mrs. Kiser was a retired supervisor in the dietetic department at Augusta Medical Complex Inc.
Survivors include stepsons David Kiser of Augusta, and Wayne Kiser of Ponca City, Okla.; stepdaughters Bonnie Jean Gfeller of Greenville, S.C., Alice A. Maness of Augusta, and Judith A. Reyes of Woodward, Okla.; nephews Fred Nutter of Visalia, La., Delbert Nutter of Wichita, and Paul Nutter of Mineola, Texas;. and niece, Vel Donna Rush of Wichita.
Memorials to First Christian Church and/or the American Diabetes Association has been suggested.
The Dunsford Funeral Home of Augusta is in charge of arrangements.

Ida Dellen (Elder) Howe, 101, Augusta, homemaker, died Monday, June 4, 2001.
Her service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 9, at Hillside Funeral Home West in Wichita.
Mrs. Howe is survived by sons, Levi of Udall, Herbert of Augusta, Leo of Wichita, Clyde of Newcastle, Pa.; daughters, Cora Hurst of Wichita, Hazel Lawrence of High Ridge, Mo.; 15 grandchildren; 38 greatgrandchildren; 22 great-greatgrandchildren; three great-great-great-grandchildren.
A memorial has been established with Central Baptist Church, Augusta.
Roger Bryan
Roger A. Bryan, 50, Augusta, arborist for All Seasons Tree Service in Lawrence, died June 1,2001.
Services were pending this morning.
Mr. Bryan is survived by father, Donald P. Bryan of Manhattan; son, Christopher S. Bryan of Hutchinson; daughter Jennifer K. Bryan of Augusta; brother, Jerry D. Bryan of DeRidder, La.; sisters, Linda S. Parker of Wassau, Wis., Donna K. Whitehill of Augusta.
Hillside Funeral Home of Augusta is in charge of arrangements.
Emmett Rogers
Emmett Lee Rogers, 62, Severy, a former Augusta-area resident, died Friday, June 1, 2001.
His graveside service will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 6 at the Fairview Cemetery.
Mr. Rogers leaves a companion, Anna Bass of El Dorado; son, Emmett Rogers Jr. of Halstead; daughter, Marty Reichen-berger of Sedgwick, sisters, Gladys Moore of Augusta and Esther Baxter of Hugoton, and eight grandchildren.
