Iva Schember-Snell

Iva Rene Schembera-Snell, 78, of Augusta, retired Beech Aircraft Corp. quality control clerk, died Thursday, Jan. 17, 2002.
Visitation 4 to 8 p.m.; rosary 7 p.m. both today at Dunsford Funeral Home; service 11 a.m. Saturday, St. James Catholic Church.
Preceded in death by husband, James Schembera.
Mrs. Schembera-Snell is survived by son, David Schembera of Arlington, Texas; daughter, Helen Clevenger of Wichita; sister, Helen Bond of Calif.; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.
A memorial established with American Heart Association, 2100 E. Douglas, Wichita, KS, 67214.

Edna M. Layton

Edna M. Layton, 88, of Bella Vista, Ark., formerly of Augusta, died Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2002.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 21, at Callison-Lough Funeral Home in Bentonville, Ark.
Mrs. Layton is survived by daughters, Jean L. Hinkle of Bella Vista, Phyllis Burris of Topeka; seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Village House Adult Daycare, P.O. Box 3027, Bella Vista, Ark. 72715.

Ruth E. Jackson

Ruth E. Jackson, 95, of Augusta, retired Augusta Half-Price Book Store proprietor, died Monday, Jan. 14, 2002.
Her service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, at Haverhill Christian Church.
Mrs. Jackson is survived by son, David of Lawson, Mo.; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.
Memorials have been established with American Heart Association and American Cancer Society.
Hillside Funeral Home of Augusta is in charge of arrangements.

Velda M. Couch

Velda M. Couch, 93, of Augusta, formerly of Colony, homemaker, died Friday, Feb. 1, 2002.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 5, at Colony (Kan.) Cemetery.
Mrs. Couch is survived by husband, Raymond; son, Gary of Topeka; daughter, Donna Wright of Augusta; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.
A memorial has been established with Augusta First Baptist Church Building Fund.

Irvin Carpenter

Irvin Carpenter, 83, of Augusta, former Beech Aircraft welder and Carpenter’s Paint and Glass owner and operator, died Saturday, Feb. 2, 2002.
His funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2002 at Dunsford Funeral Home in Augusta.
Mr. Carpenter is survived by wife, Virginia; nephew, Richard “Rick” Newell of Augusta; seven additional nieces and nephews.
A memorial has been established with Augusta Senior Center, 640 Osage, Augusta 67010.
Dunsford Funeral Home of Augusta is in charge of arrangements.

Ronald E. Skaggs

Ronald Eugene Skaggs, 60, of Wichita, formerly of Augusta, died Saturday, Feb. 2, 2002.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2002, at Prairie Hills Baptist Church, Augusta.
Mr. Skaggs was preceded in death by father, Herbert A. Skaggs.
He is survived by mother, Ruth E. Skaggs of Wichita; brothers, Richard Smith, David L. Skaggs of Augusta; sisters, Barbara Guimond of Calif., Ruth Hurtado of Hazelton, Patricia Pompa of Wichita, Bonnie Donham of Augusta, Allyn Kay McDowell of Wichita.
A memorial has been established with the Wiedermann Foundation of Wichita.
Watson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
