Joe M. Sparks

Joe M. Sparks, 87, Augusta, retired farmer and Beech Aircraft employee, died Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2002.
His funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 6, at the First United Methodist Church in Augusta. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. today at Dunsford Funeral Home Chapel.
Joe was born on Oct. 26, 1915, on his grandparent Camp’s farm near Potwin.
He grew up around the Towanda area and graduated from Towanda High School in 1934. He attend-
ed the American Business College in Wichita and later worked at Beech Aircraft where he retired in 1977 after 36 years of service.
Joe married Allene Markley on June 1, 1941, in a garden wedding outside of Augusta. They were together for 52 years until Allene’s death, June 22, 1993.
They owned a farm southwest of Augusta. They were members of the Good Sam RV Travel Club and enjoyed traveling across America, including a trip to Alaska.
He was a member of, the First United Methodist Church of Augusta for most of his life. He was also a member of Mystic Tie Lodge #74, Order of Eastern Star Chapter #211, and Shrine Midian Temple.
Survivors include: son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Cynthia Sparks of Owings Mills, Md.; daughter, Roberta McGrew of Augusta; daughter and son-in-law, Rita Kay and Larry Smith of Arlington, Texas; brother, Eldon Sparks of Portland, Ore.; sister, Margery Wohlgemuth of Benton; grandchildren, Geneva and Joe McGrew of Augusta, Krystal and her husband, Rev. Howard Huhn of Elhart,Texas, Ryan Smith of Arlington, Texas; great-grandchildren, Kendric and Dakota McGrew of Augusta, and Kayla Allene Huhn of Elkhart, Texas.
In place of flowers, gifts may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Augusta or Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice.
Dunsford Funeral Home of Augusta has charge of arrangements.

Herald E. Beaty

Former Augusta resident Herald E. Beaty,. 83, Midland, Texas, died Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2002.
His funeral service was held today, Dec. 5, in Texas. A service will also be held at 11 a.m. Saturday,. Dec. 7, in the Zimmerman Funeral Home Chapel at Howard.
He leaves his wife, Treva, a son, a daughter, a sister, nine grandchildren, and five greatgrandchildren.
Mrs. Beaty worked in the former medical office of Drs. Barber and Anderson in Augusta. Her address is 1908 Culver, Midland, Texas, 79705.

Ercie Earl Burch

Ercie Burch, 91, Morrison, Okla., formerly of Augusta and former Augusta water plant
superintendent, died Thursday, Dec. 12, 2002.
Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 17, at Elmwood Cemetery in Augusta.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Floreine, daughter, Naomi Alice, three brothers, Otto Jasper, Clarence Oscar and Johnny Edward Burch, sister, Leona Alice Stineff.
Survivors include: sons, William of Glencoe, Okla., James of Morrison, Okla., Ronald of Sayre, Okla.; daughter, Coral Jenkins of Stillwater, Okla.; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Strode Funeral Home of Stillwater, Oklahoma has charge of arrangements.

Alyssa Jo Kiser

Alyssa Jo Kiser, 6, Augusta, Robinson Elementary student, died Thursday, Dec. 26, 2002.
Her funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 31, at Living Word Outreach, 3033 S. Hillside in Wichita. Burial will be at Andover Cemetery.
Survivors include: parents, Gary and D’Elia Kiser of the home; brother, Cody of Augusta; grandparents, Leonard E. Kiser of Rose Hill, Judith and Dale McBride of Newton, Patty and Kenneth Hibbert of Andover; great-grandparents, LaVon Gaddie, Joella Lafferty, both of Wichita; several aunts and uncles and many cousins.
Broadway Mortuary in Wichita has charge of the arrangements.
