Jessie McKenzie

Jessie “Goldie” McKenzie, 92, Augusta, homemaker, died Saturday, Dec. 14, 2002.
Her graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18, at Elmwood Cemetery in Augusta.
Survivors include several nephews and nieces.
Memorial established with Hospice Care of Kansas.
Dunsford Funeral Home of Augusta has charge of the arrangements.

Velma Drew

Velma Drew, 72, El Dorado, died Saturday, Dec. 7, 2002.
Her funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 12, at the Hillside Funeral Home in Augusta.
Her survivors include husband James Drew of the home; son Jeffrey Drew of El Dorado; daughters, Barbara Gordon and Kimberly Sherry, both of El Dorado; brothers, Tommy Horton of Atlanta, John Horton of Salem, Ore., and Buck Horton Jr. of California; sisters, Anna Marie Toon of Tulsa, Okla., Carolyn Sue Pond of Arkansas City; three grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
The Velma Drew Memorial Fund was established with the Hillside Funeral Home, 117 W. Sixth, Augusta.

Donald Dee Rogers

Donald Dee Rogers, 75, formerly of Augusta, died Monday, Dec. 9, 2002 at the Kansas Veterans Home in Winfield from complications of cancer.
A memorial room will be open from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec.
21, at the Dunsford Funeral Home of Augusta.
Internment will be limited to family.
He was born to Ordess W. and Dorothy Hyde Rogers in 1927.
Rogers was raised in Augusta by his father and stepmother, Mary Alice Rogers.
He attended Ponca Military Academy in Ponca, Okla., and thereafter joined the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Following his discharge from military service he attended the University of Oklahoma where he played football and ultimately completed his education at Wichita State University.
His employment at Cessna Aircraft lead to a career in marketing in the aviation avionics industry culminating in a position as vice president of marketing for Telex Corporation.
Mr. Rogers was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son, a brother, and his spouse. He is survived by five children.
Those survivors include Tony Rogers,Wade Rogers, and Chris Log, all of Dallas, Texas, Teri Rogers of Kansas City, Kan., and Rick Rogers of Frederick, Md.
He was the proud grandfather of eight..
