Robert A. Munroe
Robert A. “Bob” Munroe, 82, Augusta, attorney for over 50 years and Augusta municipal court judge, died Monday, March 17, 2003.
His memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 21, at Dunsford Chapel in Augusta.
He was born on Sept. 11, 1920 to Alfred N. and Nellie (England) Munroe. He
served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II.
Survivors are: daughter, Barbara Clark of Newbury Park, Calif.; son, Robert Munroe of Seattle, Wash.; sister, Ruth Shenfeld of Glendale, Calif.; grandchildren, Zachary
Rockelman and Seth Clark, both of Calif.
Memorials to the Augusta Historical Society and/or First United Methodist Church have been suggested.
Dunsford Funeral Home of Augusta has charge of the arrangements.
Helen L. Williams
Helen L. Williams, 73, Douglass, homemaker, died Sunday, March 16, 2003.
Her graveside service will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, March 20, at the Douglass Cemetery.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Leona (Condon) Woods, and daughter, Felecia Moore-Johnson.
Survivors include: husband, Rink; sons, John of Douglass, Stanley of Cambridge, Martin of Rose Hill, Randy of Missouri, Rex and Walter Keith of Wichita; daughter, Helen Louise Bozeman of Rose Hill; sister, Glenda Long of Hamilton; stepfather, Dale Neubecker of Grenola; 27 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren.
Hilyard-Smith Funeral Home of Douglass has charge of arrangements.
Lucille R. Gustafson
Lucille R. Gustafson, 87, Pitman, N.J., formerly of Augusta, retired teacher, died Saturday, March 1, 2003.
She was born on April 1,1909 in McPherson, the daughter of Homer and Iva Sackett Yowell.
On May 26, 1935, she married Vernon M. Gustafson in McPherson.
In 1957 they and their children moved to Pitman, NJ. Mr. Gustafson predeceased her in 1998.
Mrs. Gustafson was a kind and loving wife and mother, who enjoyed a career of teaching and painting. She was educated in Kansas and began her teaching career in a one-room schoolhouse. She retired from the Washington Township, NJ. school district in 1969, and she and Vernon traveled around the United States. She enjoyed art in various media. Her latest interest was painting in oil, miniature pictures for doll houses, and was featured in Ripley’s Believe it or Not for these paintings.
She was preceded in death by her sisters, Hazel and Juanita, and her son, Kermit Gustafson of Fresno, Calif.
She is survived by son, Thurman F. Gustafson of Pitman, N.J., and his wife, Barbara; daughter, Linnea L.G. Acton of Poughkeepsie, N.Y. and her husband, Oakford; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.

Maria Valientes
Maria D. Valientes, 83, of the Philippines, mother of Felipa Parker of Augusta, died recently.
Memorial service will be held Wednesday, March 26, in Manila.
Other survivors include two sons and five daughters, numerous grandchildren, nieces and . nephews.

Robert F. “Doc” Blanchard, 71, Augusta, retired owner of Blanchard’s Acoustical Ceilings, died Thursday, March 20, 2003.
Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, March 24, 2003 at Hillside Funeral Home in Augusta.
He was preceded in death by parents, Cal and Helen Blanchard, brother, Lewis Blanchard, sister, Geneva Goode.
Survivors include: wife, Nancy of the home; son, Brendan Blanchard of Augusta; sisters, Jeannie Blanchard of Sedan, Barbara Patterson of Topeka, Janie Schock of Wichita.
