Ethelyn Falwell

Ethelyn J. Falwell, 91, Lawrence, formerly of Augusta, died Thursday, June 5, 2003 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
A memorial gathering was held today, June 8, at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence. Private interment services will be held later at Elmwood Cemetery in Augusta.
Mrs. Falwell was born on Sept. 13, 1911 in Rock, the daughter of Charles Harp and Ethel Houser Harp. She graduated from Winfield High School in Winfield in 1930. She then studied organ and piano at Southwestern College in Winfield.
She lived in Augusta for 60 years, where she sang with the Augusta Acappela Music Club. She was a Girl Scout leader, a 4-H leader for many years, a member of the Organ Club in Augusta, and she was also a member of the Augusta First Christian Church.
Mrs. Falwell was united in marriage on June 16, 1934 in Wichita, to Roy Dean Falwell. They lived in Holland from 1967-1969. He preceded her in death on Dec. 3, 1998.
She was preceded in death by: son, Stephen Michael Falwell on March 24,1945; two sisters, Maxine Williams and Frances Talley.
Survivors are: daughters, Sherrill Catt of Lawrence, Leigh Anne Pates of Salina; brother, Marlyn Harp of Winfield; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorial contributions to the Salvation Army, or Douglas County CASA, and may be sent in care of the Warren-McElwain Mortuary at 120 W. 13th St., Lawrence, KS 66044.

Evelyn Townsley

Evelyn J. (Ambler) Townsley, 69, Severy, coowner Jim’s Used Cars and Firewood, died Wednesday, June 4, 2003.
Her funeral services were held today, June 9, at the Severy United Methodist Church.
Survivors are: husband, Jim; sons, Junior Ramsey of Corning, Calif., James Ramsey of Augusta, Bill Townsley of Ft. Worth, Texas; daughters, Cindy Watts of Park City, Clara Register, Elaine Wells, both of Augusta; sister, Mary Billups of Viola; two aunts;
15 grandchildren; 16 greatgrandchildren.
A memorial has been established with the Greenwood County Hospice.
Zimmerman Funeral Home of Howard had charge of the arrangements.

Dolliver Basehar

Dolliver Basehar, 99, Augusta, retired bookkeeper, died Friday, June 6, 2003. There will be no service. She was preceded in death by husband, Charles Basehar and son, Gene.
Survivors are: daughter, Isa Fisher of Augusta; stepson, Wendell Basehar of Denver, Colo.; four grandchildren; several greatgrandchildren.
Dunsford Funeral Home handled the arrangements.

William Hayes

William “Bill” Hayes, 72, Council Grove, retired Metal-Fab vice president, brother of Joann Simmons of Augusta, died Wednesday, June 4, 2003.
His funeral service was held Saturday, June 7, at Memorial Chapel of the Flint Hills.
Other survivors include: wife, Irma Jean Hayes, son, Mitchell; daughter, Cheryl; one grandson; brother, Robert of Mulvane.

Melvin Glaves

Melvin Glaves, 68, Douglass, retired horse trainer, died Friday, June 6, 2003.
Flowers may be delivered to the Smith Mortuary in Derby.
His graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 12, at the Douglass Cemetery.
He was preceded in death by: parents, Harley and
Audrey; son, Blaine; brother, Jimmy; sister, Millie Jo Ward.
Survivors are: companion, Sharon Lepp of Dustin, Okla.; son, Vernon of Wichita; daughter, Tyra Clark of Newton; six grandchildren; one great-grandson.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 2100 E. Douglas, Wichita, 67214.
Hilyard-Smith Mortuary of Douglass has charge of the arrangements.
