Robert ‘Bob’ Kennedy
Robert “Bob” Kennedy, 74, Augusta, died Thursday, Sept. 25, 2003.
His memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 28, at the Augusta Church of Christ.
He was retired from Mobil Oil and Republic Supply. He was honorably discharged from the United States Army.
Mr. Kennedy was an avid' sportsman who enjoyed fishing and hunting.
He was born on Aug. 16, 1929 in Bloomington to Granville L. and Ethel M. (Rodden) Kennedy.
Survivors include: brother and sister-in-law, William and Mary Kennedy of
Augusta; sister and brother-in-law, Phyllis and Bob Stanford of Augusta; nieces and nephews, Michael S. Kennedy of Wichita, Stephen L. Kennedy of Rochester, N.Y., Robert Stanford, Jr. of Plano, Texas, Janis Marie Stanford of Augusta; five great nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, 313 S. Market, Wichita,
George E. Metzger
George E. Metzger, 91, Augusta, retired Mobil Oil welder, died Thursday, Oct. 2, 2003.
Funeral service will be held at l p.m. on Monday at Hillside Funeral Home in Augusta.
Survivors include: sisters-in-law, Mary Metzger of Wichita, Helen Metzger of Wilmore; brothers-in-law, Richard Parsons of Wichita, Ervin Bordelmeir of St. Louis, Mo.; many nieces and nephews.
Hillside Funeral Home of Augusta has charge of the arrangements.
Majel Noretta Calhoun
Majel Noretta Calhoun, 98, Wichita, retired Woolworth personnel manager, mother of Ellen Catlin of Augusta, died Friday, Sept. 26, 2003.
Service will be held at 2 p.m. tomorrow at Livingston Funeral Home in Kingman.
Other survivors include: son, Milton of Wichita; daughters, Norma Jean Meredith of Harper, Betty Krehbiei of Kingman, Beverly Buttram of Mannford, Okla.
Arrangements are under the direction of Livingston Funeral Home of Kingman.
Gordon D. DeWeese
Gordon D. DeWeese, 84 Augusta, passed away or Saturday, Sept. 27, 2003.
He was born in Nashville, Kans. on Nov. 8, 1918, the son of the late Oliver Milford and Maude Ethel (Rowland) DeWeese. He graduated from Nashville High School where he loved to play basketball.
Visitation from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday; funeral service will be at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 1, both at Headley Funeral Chapel in Augusta. Burial will follow at Wilmont Cemetery.
Mr. DeWeese was an entrepreneur who once owned the City Cigar Store in Winfield, a Western Auto in Caldwell, and a bowling alley and pool hall in Marion, and he farmed. He was a former experimental test mechanic for Beechcraft and retired from Boeing as a production engineer.
Being a member of Sunflower Lodge No. 86 for 60 years, he was a 32nd degree Mason as well as a Shriner.
On July 4, 1941 he married Clara LaFever in Wichita. She survives.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Judi and John Yourk, Scottsdale, Ariz.; sons and daughters-in-law, Joe and Missy DeWeese of Cambridge, Max and Nancy DeWeese of Yukon, Okla.; sister, Geneva Shellman; sister and brother-in-law, Virginia and Dale Cavit; grandchildren, Brad Ballah, Bruce Ballah, Joe DeWeese, Amy Birsinger, Josh DeWeese, Danielle Howell, Amanda DeWeese; sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Gates and Edna DeWeese; stepgrand-children, Christi Yourk and J.W. Yourk; 14 great-grandchildren; special children, Sal and Zee Tovar, Kathy Maxey, Teresa Jacobs, Sheila and Richard Orange; special grandchildren, Sal Tovar, Misty Steger, Mia Andrews, Melissa Tovar and Michael Tovar.
Memorial contributions may be made to Midian Plane of Mercy.

Dudley D. Williams, 74, Caney, brother of L.K. Williams of Augusta, died Thursday, July 17, 2003.
Memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 3 at Mount Hope Cemetery in Independence.
Other survivors include: sons, Richard and Keith, both of Independence, Rodger of Reno, Nev.; sisters, June Pierce of Emporia, JoAnn Denny of Wichita; five grandchildren.
Graves Funeral Home of Caney has charge of arrangements.
