Sue Ellen Allen

Sue Ellen Allen, 64, Douglass, former Medicalodge registered nurse, died Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2004.
Funeral service at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 9, at First Christian Church in Douglass. Burial will follow at Douglass Cemetery.
Visitation from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 8, .at Hilyard-Smith Funeral Home in Douglass.
Survivors include: husband, Willis of Douglass; son, Eric Allen of Leawood and daughter, Annette Bollig of Overland Park; four grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to First Christian Church, 303 E. 4th, Douglass, 67039.
Arrangements are under the direction of Hilyard-Smith Funeral Home of Douglass.

Franklin ‘Del’ Gaines Jr.

Franklin “Del” Gaines Jr. 49, Hamilton, son of Franklin and Barbara Gaines of rural Eureka, died Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2004.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 6, at the Jefferson Street Baptist Church in Eureka. Cremation has taken place.
Del was raised in Augusta and graduated from Augusta High School. He was a Boy Scout, earning the Order of the Arrow Medal. Following graduation, he joined the United States Marines. After serving, he attended Butler Community College and Kansas University. He worked in the oil fields as a roughneck and driller.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by: brother, Bill of Hamilton; sister, Beth Winkler of Yukon, Okla.; stepmother, Beverly Gaines; stepbrother, Shelby
Summers of Seattle, Wash.; one nephew.
A memorial has been established at the Hamilton Library. Contributions may be sent in care of Koup Family Funeral Home, P.O. Box 595, Eureka, 67045.
Clara C. Samuelson

Homemaker and teacher Clara C. Samuelson, 83, Lindsborg, formerly of Augusta, died Saturday, Oct. 2, 2004.
Her funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 8, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in McPherson. A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, in the Mariadahl Cemetery in Olsburg.
Survivors include: sons, Mark of Salina and Dean of Topeka; daughters, Mary Hubbard of Manhattan and Shawn Schaefer of Bryant, S.D.; sister, Alice Buhse of Trenton, Mich.; 13 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ralph.
Memorials may be given to Bethany Home or Bethany College.
Arrangements are under the direction of Hays-Christians Funeral Home in Lindsborg.
