Clay Rites Held Today
Charles L. Clay, 54, formerly of Douglass, was buried at 2:30 p.m. today. He died Wednesday at the V.A. Hospital in Wichita.
Services were held at the Hilyard-Smith Funeral Home in Douglass. Burial was in the Douglass Cemetary. Alden Pitts of Wichita officiated.
Clay was born Aug. 31, 1928 to Felix and Fern Clay in Ulysses. He married JoAnn Nehr in Pittsburg. She preceded him in death in 1966.
Clay was a self-employed carpenter and a veteran of World War II.
He is survived by two daughters, Vickie Huckriede and Lori Savely, both of Greensburg; a brother, Felix Clay Jr. of Greensburg; a sister, Mary Underwood of Abilene and two grandchildren.

Laura Sibley Dies At 90
Laura B. Elliott Sibley, 90, 620 Osage, died Friday at the Augusta Medical Complex.
Her service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Dunsford Funeral Home. Rev. Donald Elliott, her grandson, will officiate and burial will be in the Old Mission Cemetery at Wichita.
A memorial has been established with the First Christian Church of Augusta.
She was born March 2, 1893 in Buckley, Ill., to John Freeman and Josephine Estella Whittaker Walker.
She married John Francis Elliott Feb. 17, 1915 in Topeka. He preceded her in death in 1957.
She married Earl Sibley Feb. 15, 1979 in Augusta. He survives.
She was a former Boeing Aircraft Co. employee and a member of the First Christian Church. She was also a member

Mother Dies In Germany
Else Schaefer, 76, Wetzlar, West Germany, mother of Ingrid Schwartzkopf of Augusta, died there Saturday.
Services are pending in Wetzlar.
Survivors also include a son, Fritz, of the home; a daughter, Helga Asslar of Germany and two grandchildren, Ron and Petra.
Her husband preceded her in death.
Mrs. Schwartzkopf visited her mother four years ago.

Other survivors include sons, Dr. Raymond Elliott and Douglas Elliot, both of Wichita, and Donald Elliott of Houston, Texas; a daughter, Maxine Elliott Gallo of Hayward, Calif., nine stepchildren; a sister, Gladys Hovey of Cresco, Iowa; 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Knollenberg Dies At 88
Blanche Knollenberg, 88, 1316 Bobbie, died Sunday at St. Joseph Medical Center in Wichita.
Her service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Dunsford Funeral Home. Rev. Gus Kubish of Central Baptist Church will officiate and burial will be at the Elmwood Cemetery.
She was born March 18, 1895 in Sargen, Neb., to Charles D. and Fannie Sullivan Brower.
She married Louis Herman Knollenberg Aug. 15, 1917 in Colorado Springs, Colo. He preceded her in death Nov. 18, 1950.
She was a homemaker and a member of the First Christian Church.
Other survivors include a daughter, Betty Lou LeFever of Towanda; a sister, Clarinda Burchill of El Dorado; a grandson, Joe Bill LeFever of Pittsburg and three great grandsons.
Three brothers and three sisters preceded her in death.

Glenn Gardner Dies At 68
Glenn Gardner, 68, Route 3, died Thursday at St. Joseph Medical Center in Wichita.
His service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Lakeview Mortuary in Wichita. Rev. Wilfred Thiesen and Rev. Kenneth Sullivan will officiate and burial will be in the Garden of Meditation at Lakeview Mortuary.
A memorial has been established with the budding fund of the Andover Baptist Church.
He was born Aug. 5, 1914.
He was a retired manager of the Rose Hill branch of the Kansas Propane Gas Co.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley of Augusta; two sons, Lee of Wichita and Fred of Harrison, Ark.; daughters, Barbara Coke and Carol Wampler, both of Wichita, Joan League of Great Bend, Darla Bauman of Alderwood, Wash.; a sister, Helen Perry of Valley Center; 32 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
