Tommy Gene Blake

Tommy Gene Blake, 72, Arkansas City, formerly of Augusta, died on Thursday April 14, 2005.
His funeral service was held this afternoon, April 18, at the Rindt-Erdman
Funeral Home in Arkansas City. Interment followed in the Cedar Vale Cemetery.
Tommy was born on May 5, 1932 to Glee 0. Blake and Nola Mae (Kinnaman) Blake in Cedar Vale. He attended Cedar Vale High School and graduated in 1949. Tommy served in the United States Air Force from 1950 to 1954.
On Feb. 23, 1952 he married Valerie R. Kesingland in England. He later married Ida Marlene Goodman on Oct. 19, 1992 in Wichita. The couple moved to Arkansas City in 1998. Tommy was a contract negotiator with various aircraft companies, including; Boeing, Beech, and Gulf Stream. He participated in the Oklahoma City Special Olympics and was a member of the V.F.W. in Arkansas City.
He is survived by: his wife, Marlene Blake of the home; two sons, Paul Blake and his wife, Patty of Augusta, Chris Blake and his wife, Diane of Andover; four daughters, Janice Blake of Plano, Texas, Robin Ostrander and her husband, Neal of Augusta, Dawn Blake of Wichita, and Jennifer Mullin and her husband, Jeff of St. Johns Island, S.C.; six step children; five brothers, LeRoy Hoskins of Kansas City, Mike Hoskins, Bill Hoskins, and Dick Hoskins, all of Arkansas City, Jerry Blake of Dallas, Texas; two sisters, Vikki Thomas of Clover, S.C., and Jolinda Blake of Denver, Colo.; 19 grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents. A memorial has been established with Harry Hynes Hospice. Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home of Arkansas City had charge of the arrangements.



Juanita Ruth Potter

Juanita Ruth Potter, 72, McPherson, mother of Tina Weber of Douglass, died on Thursday, April 14, 2005.
Service was held on Saturday at the First Baptist Church in McPherson.
Other survivors are-daughters, Tonya Sedillo of Santa Fe, N.M., and Teresa Cofran of McPherson; son Tony of Santa Fe and Jerry of McPherson; 22 grandchildren, 13 greatgrandchildren.
Arrangements were under the direction of Glidden-Ediger Funeral Home of McPherson.

Makai Jordan Tatum

Makai Jordan Tatum infant son of Charity J Tatum, Wichita, was born and passed away or Wednesday, April 13, 2005.
Service was held this afternoon at Resthaven Mortuary in Wichita.
Other survivors include: brother, Giovanni Lee Tatum of Newton; grandparents, Jill L. Bivians, Clifford and Ronnie Tatum; great-grandparents, Carl and Marge Crease of Augusta and Barbara Tatum of Kaw City, Okla.

Nydene E. Reetz

Nydene E. Reetz, 101, Augusta, retired salesperson for Hinkles & Jones Dept. Store, died on Wednesday April 13, 2005. ______
Funeral service was held this morning, April 18, at Lakeview Funeral Home in Wichita.
She was a member of the Tri-C Sunday School Class of the First Baptist Church of Augusta.
Survivors include: nieces, Arlone Miller and Virginia Parr, both of Alamagordo, NM; cousin, Dianne Warrick of Crossville, Tenn.
Memorials to the First Baptist Church of Augusta.
Arrangements were handled by Lakeview Funeral Home of Wichita.

Margaret Crew

Margaret Ellen (Carney) Crew, 93, Augusta, died on Saturday, April 16, 2005.
Her funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, April 20, at the First United Metodist Church in Augusta. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p. m. on Tuesday, April 19, at Dunsford Funeral Home in Augusta.
Margaret was born on March 26, 1912, to Dr. E.B. 1 Carney and Nella B. (McKinney) Carney in Fort Scott. She was married to I. Marion Crew on Nov. 1 1945, in El Dorado. She taught school in several Kansas communities and was a long time substitute in the Augusta schools. She was active in the Augusta First Methodist Church and a charter member of the Augusta Hospital Auxiliary and Sorosis Club.
Her survivors are: son, Richard Crew of Wichita; sister, Betty (Mrs. John) Miller of Cheyenne, Wyo.; niece and husband, Barbara and Armando Maldonado of Fort Collins, Colo.; nephew and wife, Edward and Olivia Carney of Farmington, N.M.
She was preceded by her husband in 1979; her parents, three brothers, one sister, and two nephews.
Memorials to the First United Methodist Church of Augusta.
Arrangements are under the direction of Dunsford Funeral Home of Augusta.
