Mary Lou Howard

Mary Lou Howard, 79, Bangor, Maine, formerly of Augusta, died Monday, Oct. 17, 2005.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 29, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Bangor. Interment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
She was born on July 30, 1926, in Kansas City, Mo., adopted at age three by Nicholas J. and Celia McClure Pardee and raised in El Dorado, graduating from high school in 1944.
She worked as a bookkeeper for the Gas Service Company where she met her husband, 0. Wayne Howard, with whom she raised two children. The family moved to Augusta in 1965, then retired to Garfield, Ark. in 1988. She returned to Augusta after divorce in 1996, and moved to Bangor in 2004.
Mary Lou was a devout Catholic. She liked to travel, read and socialize. She had many friends and family with whom she corresponded regularly, and they showered her with cards during her illness. She always responded with sympathy to the suffering of others, both on a personal level and by giving to many charities. She had a big smile and an unforgettable laugh, and won the hearts of her caregivers during the last 10 months with her cheerfulness and her compassion for her fellow patients.
She is survived by: her son, Michael W. Howard and his wife, Valerie J. Carter; daughter, Katherine H. Boggs and husband, John Boggs; grandchildren, Emma Howard of Bangor, Luke Hoagland and Wayne Hoagland, both of Lawrenceville, Ga.; ex-husband, O. Wayne Howard of Garfield, Ark.; two nieces, three nephews, and their children and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Elizabeth Courtright.

John A. Fuqua

John Alcander Fuqua, 88, Piedmont, father of Nathan Fuqua of Douglass, died Sunday, Oct. 23, 2005,
His graveside service will be 1:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 28, at the Fuqua Ranch south of Piedmont.
Visitation is possible at the Zimmerman Funeral Home of Howard until 9 p.m. this evening.

Richard Wagner

Construction carpenter Richard C. Wagner, 44, Augusta, died Monday. Oct. 24, 2005.
His funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 28, at the Wilson Funeral Home in Madison. Burial will follow in the Lena Valley Cemetery north of Lamont.
He is survived by two sons, Spencer E. Wagner of Poland, and Dylan R. Wagner of Andover; his parents, Richard and Lucy Wagner of Emporia, and a sister, Elizabeth Johnson of Wichita.
The family requests memorial contributions to the American Heart Association in lieu of flowers. Contributions can be sent to the Wilson Funeral Home, P.O. Box 488, Madison, 66860.
AUGUSTA - Gibbon, Frank Allen, 87, of Augusta, formerly of Howard, KS. He was bom July 17,1918 at Manhattan, KS, the son of Will O. & Nadine Rankin Gibbon.
Frank graduated from Howard High School in 1936 & attended Baker University for 2 years.
Frank entered the service in Oct 1941 and served in the Quartermaster Corps at Air Bases.
He received his discharge in Dec 1945. After serving his country he returned to Howard to work for his father in the Gibbon Lumberyard where he remained until the business was sold in 1967.
He worked for Guy Foods in Wichita and Liberty, MO, until his retirement in 1983, returning to Howard.
In 1977 he married Marjorie Armstrong, her son Carl, wife Edna, & children Carla, Sherry, and Shane became his family and he loved them all.
Frank was baptized at the age of 11 in the Methodist Church.
In 1988 he was baptized in the Baptist Church in Howard. Frank was an active member in the Carter-Rader Post 149-American Legion, serving as Commander and Adjutant.
His membership continued for 61 years. His faithful wife Marge precedes him in death.
Survived by family: Carl and Edna, Carla and Rick, Sherry and Brent, Shane and Robin; great-grandchildren; Aubrey Ann, Alec, Taylor, Jaden, and Brinn, sister, Berry Coffin; 3 nieces & 1 nephew.
Memorial services 2 p.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church in Howard. Memorial is requested to the Carter-Rader American Legion Post 149 for Boys' State.
