Barbara Ann Lowenstein

Former Augusta resident Barbara Ann Lowenstein, 59, Las Vegas, Nev., passed away Thursday, Oct. 27, 2005.
Her graveside service at Elmwood Cemetery will be will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 3. She will be laid to rest adjacent to her parents, both of whom she loved dearly.
Barbara was born Aug. 23, 1946 at Independence, KS, as the daughter of Gerald Ray and Darlene Evelyn Schlotfelt.
She was the sister of Larry Schlotfelt of Tulsa, Okla., and a true friend to many as well as an aunt to several precious nieces and nephews.
Barbara graduated from Augusta High School in 1964.
She grew up in Augusta and met John L. Lowenstein in the summer of 1970 in Wichita. They were married Feb. 11, 1971 and they began a lifelong partnership
that lasted 35 glorious years. She stood beside John’s side for 25 years while his baseball and broadcasting careers flourished. They toured the world together, stopping in many ports of call.
Barbara was a perfectionist in all that she did. She loved to dance, quilt, read, travel, go to the movies, and play card games.
She enjoyed the holidays as a time of celebration to be with family and friends.
Barbara was a devoted member of Central and Canyon Ridge Christian churches and a tireless volunteer for several church functions.
Everyone who knew Barbara knew that this quiet, unpretentious girl from the Midwest was special in her own way. Her laugh smile will be missed by all.
Hillside Funeral Home of Augusta is handling local arrangements in cooperation with the Palm Mortuary of Las Vegas.

Roger F. Pearson

Roger F. Pearson, 65, Augusta, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 30, 2005.
Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 2, at Christ Lutheran Church in Augusta. Graveside service to follow at 4 p.m. at West .Liberty Cemetery in Hammond.
Viewing from 1 to 8 p.m. today at Headley Funeral Chapel in Augusta.
Roger was born on July 20, 1940, in Tulsa, Okla., the son of John Franklin and Edna (Reaves) Pearson. He worked as an E&I shop foreman at Frontier Refinery in El Dorado. He enjoyed traveling and was an avid sports fan. On July, 22, 1961, he married
Sondra (Williams) in Dodge City. She survives.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by: sons, Mark Pearson and his wife, Yvonne of Springfield, Mo., and Clayton Pearson of Augusta; brother, Richard Pearson of Topeka; sister, Nadine McGowen of Buhler; half sister, Debbie Cowan of Duncan, Okla.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Ronda Renee.
Memorials to Christ Lutheran Church or Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice.
Arrangements under the direction of Headley Funeral Chapel of Augusta.

Edward H. Brand

Edward H. Brand, 90, St. Mark, truck driver, died on Sunday, Nov. 6, 2005.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 Tuesday, Nov. 8, at St. Mark’s Catholic Church.
His survivors include many nieces and nephews.
Headley Funeral Chapel of Augusta is handling the arrangements.

Ruth A. Kittle

Ruth A. Kittle, 78, Augusta, retired Douglass school teacher, passed away on Friday, Nov. 4, 2005.
Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 9, at the Augusta First Baptist Church.
Visitation from 1 to 8 p.m., with family present from 6 to 8 p.m. tomorrow at Hillside Funeral Home in Augusta.
Her survivors include: sons, Ron (Jan) of Sumter, S.C., Ed (Doreen) of Augusta, Bill (Colleen) of Midland, Va., and Larry
(Diane) of Lakenheath AFB, England; sisters, Lila Parks of Holyrood, Joyce Holmes of Wichita,
Lois Packard of Plains, and Alice Sinclair of Cimarron; sister-in-law, Ernestine Holmes of Plains; 11 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Glenn, and brother Howard.
Hillside Funeral Home of Augusta has charge of the arrangements.
