Leona Upshaw Dies At 80
Leona Upshaw, 80, rural Augusta, died this morning at her home.
Funeral arrangements are pending at the Downing and Lahey Mortuary in Wichita.
She was born Sept. 2, 1903 in Dardanelle, Ark., to George Lee and Ida Johnson Bellah.
She married Fred Upshaw in Stillwater, Okla., in 1928. He preceded her in death.
She worked at an Andover laundry before her retirement.
Survivors include sons, Jim Upshaw of Augusta and Vernon Upshaw of San Antonio, Texas; a daughter, Joann Ladd of Dallas, Texas; a brother, Clifford Bellah of San Bernadino, Calif., and a sister, Edna Barnett of Kingsland, Texas; three grandchildren and four great-grandchilden.

Ex-Augustan Dies At 73
Robert Hunter, 73, Enid, Okla., formerly of Augusta, died there Saturday.
His service was at 10 a.m. Monday at the Brown Funeral Home in Enid. Rev. Bill Kious officiated and burial was at the Aline, Okla., cemetery.
He was born Sept. 28, 1907 in Aline to John Franklin and Blanche Olivia Corson Hunter.
He married Lois Harper May 28, 1934 in Wichita. She survives.
He was a former Mobil Oil refinery employee.
Other survivors include sons, Roger Hunter of Enid and Ronald Hunter of Tecumseh, Okla.;
daughters, Falyce Muehe of Enid, Kay Conde of Granger, Wyo., and Milam Maixner of Drummond, Okla., and 10 grandchildren.

Edna Capps Dies At 65
Mary Edna Capps, 65, 219 W. 4, died Wednesday at the Augusta Medical Complex.
Her services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Assembly of God Church in Augusta. Rev. Robert Lourance will officiate and burial will be at the Elmwood Cemetery.
A memorial has been established with the Assembly of God Church.
She was born Sept. 18, 1918 in Augusta to William and Mary Strong Brown.
She married Everett L. Capps Sept. 1, 1941 in Ellsworth. He survives.
She was a lifetime resident of Augusta and a member of the Assembly of God Church.
Other survivors include a son, Everett C. Capps of Augusta; daughters, Phyllis Capps of Augusta and Pearl Faye Turner of Rosalia; brothers, Essely Elgin of Augusta and Roy Brown of Council Grove; a sister, Fern Oakes of Walnut; eight grandsons; a granddaughter and a great-granddaughter.

Mary Hanna Dies At 56
Mary Hanna, 56, Shiloh, Ga., sister of Charles Harris and Robert Harris, both of Douglass, died Tuesday from injuries suffered in an automobile accident.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Burden, Kan., cemetery.
A memorial has been established with the Central Baptist Church in Winfield.
Other survivors include her husband, Joe of Shiloh; sons, Joe of Manchester, Ga., Steven of Winfield; mother, Alice Miller of Oxford; brothers, Donnie Harris of Wellington, Richard Harris of Clearwater and Irvin Harris of Albuquerque, N.M.; sister, Martha Goodman of Parsons, and six grandchildren.

Ernest Martin Died Today
Ernest Martin of Scammon, Kan., uncle of Augustan George Martin, died today at a Columbus, Kan., hospital.
His funeral service is scheduled for 2 o’clock Monday afternoon.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel, a son and a daughter.

Martin Service 2 P.M. Monday
A funeral service for Ernest Martin, uncle of Augustan George Martin, will begin at 2 o’clock Monday afternoon at the Naylor Funeral Home in Weir, Kan. Burial will be in the cemetery there.
Martin died yesterday at a Columbus, Kan., hospital. He was preceded in death by a wife, a son and a daughter.

Son Dies In Texas
Richard L. McNitt, 46, Wichita, son of Bluford McNitt of Augusta, died Friday in Austin, Texas.
His service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Donwing and Lahey Mortuary in Wichita. Rev. William Hastings will officiate and burial will be at the White Chapel Memorial Gardens.
He was born June 4, 1937 in Toronto to Bluford and Claudine Hartman McNitt.
He married Barbara Jackson. She survives.
He was a service manager for Quik Print in Wichita.
Other survivors include a son, Chris, and a daughter, Amy, both of the home.
