Silas F. Burnett, Sr.
Silas “Si” F. Burnett, Sr., 83, Wichita, retired Wagoner Construction finish carpenter and retired Boeing employee, died on Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2006.
Memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Smith Mortuary in Derby. Committal service at 1 p.m. that afternoon, at Kansas Veterans Cemetery in Winfield.
His is survived by: wife, Leota; son. Silas “Frank” Burnett of Tenino, Wash.; daughters, Virginia Black of Valley Center and Bonnie Culpepper, Albuquerque, NM; stepsons, Thomas C. Smith of Wichita and Francis A. “Frank” Smith of Kimberling City, Mo.; 14 grandchildren; 19 greatgrandchildren.
A memorial has been established with The Arthritis Foundation, 1602 E. Waterman, Wichita, 67211.
June L. Elliott
June L. Elliott, 83, of Augusta, passed away Saturday, August 19th, 2006.
Funeral service was held this morning at Headley Funeral Chapel, Augusta.
Mrs. Elliott was born in Stratford, Texas on June 10, 1923, the daughter of Buell and Jenny (Riggins) Hughes. She had been an employee at Boeing after the war and worked as a nurses aide at Walnut Valley Manor. On December 13, 1943 she married James F.
Elliott in El Dorado. He preceded her in death.
She is survived by: a son, Larry Elliott and his wife Phyllis, Overton, Texas; a daughter Rosemary
Reynolds and her husband Dale, Douglass; grandchildren, Casey Elliott, Longview, Texas, and Jill Brown and her husband Tommy, Minneola, Texas, and a great grandson, Austin Brown.
Memorials to First Christian Church, Augusta or American Cancer Society.
Arrangements were under the direction of Headley Funeral Chapel in Augusta.
Riley Eric Humphrey
Riley Eric Humphrey, infant son of Patrick Humphrey and Christy Louque, both of Augusta, passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2006.
Graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday at Maple Grove Cemetery.
Other survivors include: grandparents, Wanda and Randy Humphrey of Yukon, Okla, and Dee Ann Louque, Augusta; great-grandparents, Helen Burch, Judy and Allan Spiker. all of Augusta; brothers,
Cameron and Jacob Humphrey of the home.
Arrangements by Broadway Mortuary in Wichita.
Caleb Christian West
Caleb Christian West, 11, Cottonwood Falls, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 20, 2006. He had been fighting cancer since September of 2004.
The family will greet friends from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 23, at the Flint Hills Community Church in Cottonwood Falls.
A celebration of life service will be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 24, at the Flint Hills Community Church in Cottonwood Falls. Cremation has taken place.
There will also be a service at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 26, at the Trinity Church in Lubbock, Texas.
Caleb Christian West, the son of Donald “Brian” and Melanie Dawn West, was born on May 4, 1995 in Lubbock, Texas. He was a sixth grade student at the Chase County Middle School. He enjoyed riding four-wheelers, swim, camping, and playing with friends in the outdoors. He attended the Cedar Point Community Church.
He is survived by: his mother and step father, Melanie D. and Glenn D. Blount of Cottonwood Falls; father and step mother, Brian and Deanna West of Augusta;
three brothers, Schon Blount of Ft. Leonard Wood, Mo., Cole West of the home, and Terry Davis of Augusta; five sisters, Terry Blount of the home, Justice Davis, Brandie Davis, and Alecia West of Augusta, and soon-to-be-born Cala Briana West of Augusta; grandparents,
Fern Blount of Cottonwood Falls, Bob and Sandy Lumpkin, Tom and Carol Reynolds, Don and Susan West, all of Lubbock, Texas, and Chuck and Linda Lovell of Wellington.
He was preceded in death by: grandfather, George Blount; grandmothers, Joann Scott and Barbara Lovell; great-grandparents, O.A. and Nila Knudson, and Bob and Ernie Shelton; greatgrandmother, Lillian West;
great-grandfather,Henry Lumpkin; and infant cousin Kynlee Lumpkin.
The Caleb West Memorial Fund has been established at Exchange National Bank in Cottonwood Falls and contributions may be sent in care of the Brown-Bennett-Alexander Funeral Home, 201 Cherry, Cottonwood Falls, 66845.
