Mabel Christine Stickney
Mabel Christine Stickney, 88, Ellinwood, retired bookkeeper, school teacher, and owner of Ellinwood Dairy Queen, died on Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2006.
Visitation from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 19, at Kimple Funeral Home in Ellinwood.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 20, at Immanuel Church of Christ, Ellinwood.
Burial will be at Lakin-Comanche District Cemetery, Ellinwood.
She was born on June 29, 1918 in Chase, the daughter of Frank M. and Joanna M. (Loesch) Scott.
Her survivors are: sons, Leroy (Debra) Stickney of Chase, Larry (Lorrie) Stickney of Great Bend, and Lyle Stickney of Ellinwood; daughters, Lois Thompson of Hays, Lila (Curtis) Schartz of Ellinwood, and Luella (David) Zorn of Augusta; 18 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Leroy Stickney; 11 brothers and sisters.
Memorials to Immanuel United Church of Christ in Ellinwood.
Barbara Bowman
Barbara Bowman, 70, Augusta, passed away on Monday, Oct. 16, 2006.
Viewing will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday, with family to greet friends from 6 to 7 p.m.; funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 20, both at Headley Funeral Chapel, Augusta.
Mrs. Bowman was born on March 20, 1936, in
Springfield, Mo., the daughter of the late William and Neva (Fry) Bossing. She worked in day care. On Aug. 12, 1952, she married
Robert “Bob” Bowman. He preceded her in death.
She is survived by: daughter, Connie and her husband, Clint Hummel; son, Dale and his wife, Sheri Bowman, all of Augusta; brothers, William “Chub” Bossing, Harold Bossing, Ted Bossing, and Charles Bossing, all of Springfield, Mo.; grandchildren, Rob and his wife, Leslie Bohon, Derek Hummel and fiance, Lacey Forrester, Tyler Patrick and Garrett Bowman; great-granddaughter, Bailey Bohon.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Violet Climer.
Memorial contributions to the Barbara Bowman Memorial Fund for Bailey and Garrett.
