Donald “Gene” Maness
Donald “Gene” Maness, 70, Keller, Texas, formerly of Augusta, left this life to be with the Lord on Monday, Dec. 18, 2006,
with his wife by his side. The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. this evening at Lucas Funeral Home, 137 E. Hill St., Keller.
Graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in Medlin Cemetery in Trophy Club, Texas.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 6, at the First United Methodist Church of Keller, 1025 Johnson Road, Keller.
Gene retired from SBC after 40 years and two days of service. His passion was his family; he did everything for his children and grand-children. Gene was a member of the First United Methodist church of Keller,
where he was known as the doorman. He was a member of the R.O.M.E.O. group and was always inspired to serve others in a humble and gentle way.
Also at church, he was known for cooking, mission work and the ability to fix almost anything. Gene loved traveling, concerts, music, dancing, and the arts.
His survivors are: wife of 45 years, Bonnie Maness of Keller; daughter, Sandi Gaddy and husband, Brian of Keller; grandchildren, Macy Renee and Mason Michael Gaddy; sister, Donna Bell of Garnett.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Terri Renee Maness, his parents and siblings.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made at the First United Methodist Church of Keller, Texas, First United Methodist Church of Augusta;
Whitney Mountain Chapel of Garfield, Ark.; Habitat for Humanity House; or Gideons Bible at The Gideons International, Box 140800, Nashville, TN, 37214-0800.
Arrangements are under the direction of Lucas Funeral Home in Keller, Texas.

Jack D. Cook, 64, El Dorado, dry-wall finisher for Mid-West Drywall, died on Thursday, Dec. 21, 2006.
Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 22, at St. James Catholic Church in Augusta. Visitation will follow.
A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 23, at St. James Catholic Church, Augusta. Interment will follow at Sutton Cemetery.
He is survived by: his wife, Lea June (Bachofer) Cook of El Dorado; daughters, Jacqueline (Cook) Gnerlich, Allen, Texas, Jennie (Cook), son-in-law Matt Hunn of El Dorado;
son, Bryce (Lori) Cook of El Dorado; grandchildren, Logan Gnerlich of El Dorado, Bryce, Demi and Gerald Gnerlich of Allen, Texas, Tyler and Preston Dennett of El Dorado;
brothers, Dick (Diane) Cook of Wichita and Randy (Karen) Cook of Cheney; sister, Pam Mude and husband, Marv of Wichita.
Carlson Funeral Home in El Dorado is handling the arrangements.
