Alberta Ruth Smith

Alberta Ruth Smith, 70, Augusta, died on Friday, Jan. 18, 2008.
No viewing. Graveside service at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22, at Elmwood Cemetery, Augusta. Those attend-
ing should use the 12th Street entrance.
Alberta was born on June 15, 1937 in Denver, Colo., the daughter of the late Casper John ad Susie (Voss) Werner. She worked as a LPN at LakePoint in Augusta.
Survivors: son, Paul Smith and wife, Cheryl of Augusta; daughter, Linda Howe and husband John of Blythe, Calif.; brother, Dave Werner of Sandy, Ore.; sisters, Ann Bridges of Springfield, Ore. and
Sue Williamson of Tolleson, Ariz.; grandchildren, Andrew Howe and wife, Karen, Kevin Howe and wife, Amy, Joshua and Toby Smith; great-grandchildren, John Howe and Annabel Howe.
She was preceded in death by brothers, John, Joe and Henry Werner; and sister, Kathryn Ronczyk.
Memorials to the American Lung Association for asthma research. Arrangements by Headley

George Roy Mabry, Jr.

George Roy Mabry, Jr., 86, Augusta, retired Mobil Oil
Refinery carpenter and maintenance supervisor, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 20, 2008.
Viewing will
be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with visitation with family from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday. Funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 25, at the First United Methodist Church with Pastor Curtis Cadenhead officiating.
Interment in Elmwood Cemetery, Augusta, immediately following the service.
George was born in Wichita on April 19,1921 to George, and Gertrude (Peck) Wallace, Sr. George
served in the U.S. Army during WWII and then married Edna
Mae “Jean” Hughes on Oct. 7, 1945 in Wichita. They all precede him.
Survivors: loving and devoted companion, Treva
Dunsford, Augusta; son: Calvin (Sherry) Mabry, El Dorado; daughters: Bonnie (Norman) Clark, Houston, Texas, Barbara (Miles) Johnson, Warner Robins, Ga., Carol (John) Novak, El Dorado; sisters: Donna
(Lowell) Putnam, Augusta, Doris (Bill) Chilcotte, Phoenix, Ariz.; 12 grandchildren, 16 great-grand-grandchildren.
Memorials may go to the First United Methodist Church.
Services entrusted to Dunsford-Zeiner Zeiner Funeral Home, Augusta.

Shirley S. Simmons

Shirley S. Simmons, 59, Omaha, Neb., employee relations specialist at Father Flanagan’s Boys Town, and sister of Lorna “Tony” Wallace of Augusta, died on Jan. 19, 2008.
Funeral service at 1 p.m. on Thursday, at West Center Chapel in Omaha.

Geneva L. Patterson

Geneva L. Patterson, Augusta, passed away on Jan. 22, 2008.
No service will be held and her ashes will be buried at Senneca on the Feather
River in California. A memorial dinner will be held at 6 p.m. this evening at Community Crossroads Fellowship Hall, Augusta.
She was born on Nov. 25, 1921.
Survivors: son, Michael Patterson of Wichita; sisters, Wilma Crockett of Susanville, Calif., Maxine
Rogers of Seminole, Okla., Corene Basquez and Jacqueline Rogers, both of Augusta; granddaughter, Michelle Patterson; numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by: her mother, Mamie Westerman; brother, Carl R. Penrod, and sister, Jewel Buckhanon.
