James A. “Jim” McVay

James A. "Jim" McVay, 83, of Augusta, went to be with Jesus on Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2008.
Viewing 1-8 p.m. Thursday with family to greet friends from 5-7 p.m. at Headley Funeral Chapel, Augusta.
Service will be 1:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb.l, at First United Methodist Church, Augusta. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery, Augusta.
Jim was born in Ingersoll, Okla, on Aug. 8, 1924, the son of Albert Arthur and
Flossie Mae (McGinnis) McVay. On Feb. 12, 1945 he married Mary Virginia Cease at the Methodist Church in Augusta.
He served in the U.S. Navy
and retired from Mobil Oil in 1986 as an operator. Jim had
also worked for National Helium in Liberal. He was very active in the community through Augusta United Methodist Church; Kiwanis Club, being a past president; helping with Habitat for Humanity, Meals on Wheels, Shopping for Seniors and the Library book exchange. Jim enjoyed woodworking, feeding his birds, playing cards, camping and just being around his grandkids and great grandkids and their activities.
His survivors include his wife of 63 years, Mary; their children, daughter, Kathy Oliver and husband Paul of Augusta; son, Jim McVay, Jr. and wife Doris of Erie; son Henry McVay and wife Rita of Valley Center; son David McVay and wife Debbie of Plains; , and daughter, Ruthi Howard and husband Larry of Augusta; grandchildren, Cheryl and Kevin Brewer, Jenny Oliver, Chris and Abby Oliver, James III and Jana McVay, John McVay,
Gina McVay, Randy and Emily McVay, Bree Downs, Emily and Tanner Norris, Molly Espinosa; Julia McVay, Laura McVay, Kinsy and Trish McVay, Kendall and Sarah McVay, Kollisa and Nick Capo,Tim Howard, Wendi and John Doyle; great-grandchildren, Kolton Brewer, Gracie and Taylor Russell, Kai McVay, Chandler Brockett, Kelsey Coleman, Carly Espinosa, Mason Norris, Blaine McVay, Braedon McVay and Greyson McVay, Elayne, Noah and Johnny Doyle; a sister, Opal Crowder. of Longmont, Colo.; seven nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Lila McVay and Barbara Smith; grandson, Christopher McVay; and great-granddaughter Alii Espinosa.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to United Methodist Youthville of Newton.

Jean W. Rader, 88, Augusta, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 31, 2008.
No services and burial in Elmwood Cemetery, Augusta.
Survivors: wife, Alice of Augusta; sons, David and Kevin Rader; daughter, Karen Money; 3 grandchildren; step-daughters, Connie Peters of Augusta and Betty Sue Howe.

John Robert Taylor

John Robert Taylor, 84, Wichita, member of United Association of Plumbers &
Steamfitters Union for over 60 years, U.S. Armv
Air Corps WWII veteran, and brother of Jack Taylor of Augusta, passed away on Friday, Feb. 1, 2008.
Funeral service at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5, at Hillside Funeral Home West, Wichita. Visitation prior to service. Interment at Resthaven Cemetery, Wichita.
Other survivors include: wife, Betty; daughters, Nancy Vohs and Susan Holewa; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brother, Max Taylor.
Memorials to Inter-Faith Ministries or charity of choice.

Naoma Wheeler

Naoma Wheeler, 91, of Augusta, passed away Monday, Feb. 4, 2008.
Services are pending with Headley Funeral Chapel, Augusta.
