88 of Wichita, Allstate Insurance agent and former owner of Dairy Queens in Augusta and Wichita, died Monday, March 3, 2008.
Memorial service 1 p.m., Saturday, March 8, at Downing & Lahey Mortuary
East, Wichita.
Dick was a professional baseball player who was inducted into the Kansas Baseball Hall of Fame m 1992. He was also an avia
golfer.
Survivors: wife, Virginia Ruth (Burton) Murphy; sons, Bill and Lana Murphy of Wichita and Tom and Candy Murphy of Protection; daughter, Sal y and Randy Selzer of Protection; grandchildren, Monica
Vanderheck, Melissa (J.D.) Patton, Brian Murphy, Joe (Hilary) Murphy, Doug Murphy, Jennifer (Jake) McClure, Ben Murphy and Ryan and Christina Selzer;
great-granddaughter, Molly Murphy.
Preceded in death by sister, Mildred.

Wayne E. Farmer, Jr. 52, of Towanda, died on Monday, Feb. 3,2008.
Memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. on Friday, March 7, at Christ Lutheran Church in Augusta. Inurnment will be Saturday in LeRoy Cemetery.
He was born on June 2, 1955 in Iola, the son df Wayne E. Farmer, Sr. and Ramona McGowan. He had lived in Towanda for the past 29 years, moving there in 1979. He served in the United States Air Force from 1973 until 1979. He worked as an assembler for a manufacturing firm and maintenance at Circle High School District 375 for 15 years, and part time at Christ Lutheran Church in Augusta. He married Nancy J. Stohs on Nov. 22,1973 in Aliceville.
Survivors include: his wife of the home; son, Daniel (Joanna) Farmer of Douglass; daughter, Sharon (Wade) Wilkinson of El Dorado; his parents, Wayne and Ramona Farmer and sister, Elena Robinson, all of LeRoy; eight grandchildren.
Memorials in his memory for children’s cancer group at Victory in the Valley may be left at Carlson Funeral Home, El Dorado. Condolences for the family may be sent to

Pauline R. Berry, 90, of Augusta, passed away, Monday, March 3, 2008.
Visitation 5-7 p.m. Thursday, March and service 10 a.m. Friday, March 7, at J. C. Kirby & Son (Broadway Chapel) in Bowling Green, Ky. Burial
will follow at Glasgow Cemetery, Glasgow, Ky.
Mrs. Berry was born in Glasgow, Ky. on Aug. 31, 1917, the daughter of the late George Washington and Laura (Beaty) Reynolds. She graduated from Glasgow High in 1936. She had worked as statistician for the Carbondale Police Department in Carbondale, IL, and in Kentucky at the Office of Public Assistance, Motor and Electric Supply Co., Kentucky Utilities and as a legal secretary in Bowling Green, Ky. On Jan. 2, 1957 she married Julian Richard "Dick" Berry and he preceded her in death on Jan. 29, 2008. She was also preceded in death by brothers, Joseph, Garland and Wood Reynolds and a sister, Virginia Reynolds.
She is survived by daughter, Beverly Whitman and husband Mike of Augusta; a sister, Bessie Nance of Glasgow, Ky.; and many dearly loved nephews and nieces.
Arrangements entrusted to Headley Funeral Chapel, Augusta.

Blaze F. Ziegler, 82, Wichita, veteran Corporal of the Korean War, father and father-in-law of Darlene and Noel Schurtz of Augusta,
passed away on Sunday, March 2, 2008.
Visitation to 5 p.m. today. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, March 6, at Church of the Magdalene, Wichita.
Other survivors: daughter, Carrol McCormick; brother, Paul Ziegler; sisters, Rose Zimmerman and Clara Herby; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Jack Sloderbeck, Jr.
Jack Eugene Sloderbeck, Sr., passed away on Feb. 24, 2008.
Services were held
on Feb. 26, at the First Christian Church in Augusta with interment at Elmwood Cemetery.
He was born on March 14,1921, the son of Jesse T. and Henrietta (Smith) Sloderbeck.
He served in the United States Navy aboard the U.S.S. West Virginia during
WWII. He worked at Phillips Oil Co., Cessna
Aircraft, and retired as a project plan-
ner with Boeing.
Survivors include: sons, Jack Jr. (Carolyn) of Augusta and Michael (Diana) of Kansas City, Mo.; daughter, Jessica (Kerry) Mayfield of Augusta; step daughters, Becky Ronsick and Norma Pearson; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by: his wife, Edna in 1999; his parents; brother, Kenneth; daughter, Marcia; and great-grandson, Dylan Mayfield.

Memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, March 10, at Haverhill Christian Church with Pastor Larry Snodgrass officiating.
Jo was born May 8, 1953 to Alfred “Hugh”and Gayle (Neuway) McHone in Wichita. She married Jack 0. Nelson on Feb. 23, 2005 in El Dorado.
Jo is survived by: spouse Jack O. Nelson, of the home; daughter, Kayla (Nick) Smith, Augusta; sons, Jack (Stephanie) Nelson, II, Augusta, Billy Lamphier, Augusta, and Zachary (Megan) Nelson, Monroe, Ohio; mother, Gayle McHone, Augusta; brothers, Steve (Ava) McHone and Stan (Debbie) McHone, Augusta; sister, Julie Keely, Leon; six grandchildren: Kaiden and Xander Smith,

Sharon is survived by: her husband Stan; sons, Scott of and Alex; grandson,
Brannum and new granddaughter Clara of Denver, Colo.; her sisters, Marcia, Lynn, and Teri.
